It’s premiere time! Body Music, the foxy collaborative project between The Rapture’s Vito Roccoforte, who also operates as one half of Vito & Druzzi and Boston’s producer and multi-instrumentalist Bosq, was informally formed in the spring of 2015. Bonding over a mutual love for raw, funky disco, house music and jazzy gospel piano licks, they began passing unfinished ideas back and forth until a debut EP took shape in 2017, the four-tracker “Just One” on Brooklyn’s Razor-N-Tape.

The follow up is a fresh 12″ on Head In the Clouds label with a pair of 21st century funky, low-slung anthems in the vein of Arthur Russel, ESG and Liquid Liquid. We’re psyched to premiere our favorite cut from the EP, the a-side cut “Don’t Think Twice”, an all-embracing sound palette with bouncy live drums, blissful jingles, smooth synth stabs and full strut groove, featuring the magical, soulful and flirty vocals of Christian Holiday. On the flip side the laid-back “Give My Love a Try”, and Holiday’s romantic vocals, create the perfect vibe to open or close a party.

Vrooom into the groove and blast it above, exclusively on La.Ga.Sta.

The “Don’t Think Twice/Give My Love a Try” 12”, which also features instrumental versions of both tracks, drops on October 26th on Head In the Clouds. Pre-order it here.

Excting news! After reaching volume 7, LAGASTA’s “Late Summer” compilation series has now become a trademark for the ending of summer. Featuring some of the finest tracks of the year, the compilation is packed with sun-kissed, groove-filled tunes that provide you with a never-ending summer feeling. Fueling many blissful joyrides at no cost and free download as always.

Now, LAGASTA is proud to present something new and special in the form of a double-vinyl album. A tangible compilation series, entitled “Last Gas Station”, which is compiled with only exclusive tracks. The first “Last Gas Station” compilation features 12 new tracks and aims to showcase artists that the site has followed for many years, as well as promising talents to keep an eye on. It also marks the launch of our exciting new label, LAGASTA Records.

The collection’s opening track is a sunshine-filled slice of daytime disco from LA’s duo Poolside recent album “Heat”, which is remix by Baio, aka Vampire Weekend’s bassist Chris Baio. Next one is Crew Love’s David Marston, who teams up with Dan Izco for a blissful ride. Mexico’s finest Zombies in Miami deliver a dancefloor odyssey in the form of “Temple of Love”, while Italian duo Marvin & Guy drop an epic slow-burner called “Asbek”.

DFA’s Greek mastermind Larry Gus never ceases to amaze us with yet another example of what he does best, followed by “Charlie Rose”, a classy, club-ready track from Brooklyn’s duo Vito & Druzzi, aka Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel “Druzzi” Andruzzi, best known for being the drummer and multi-instrumentalist of DFA’s The Rapture. Next up, Adelaide-based producer James Curd and Turbotito, aka Los Angeles producer Filip Nikolic of Poolside, have joined forces once again for a new collaborative tune “Lost” filled with warm grooves and melancholic synths, followed by our favorite NY unstoppable disco funkers Midnight Magic with their infectious track “Through The Motions” of pure disco glory.

Woolfy Vs Projections, the duo of California-based musicians Simon “Woolfy” James and Dan Hastie, keep the summer vibes going with their track “Your Past Behind”, a quality example of the signature sound. Disco Halal’s Moscoman teams up with MoRayon for an extra dose of lush vibes on “Play No Game”. LA’s Daniel T. takes us for a ride with “Moonlight Bounce”, a perfectly crafted tune full of melodic soundscapes, while Peaking Lights Acid Test, the live instrumental disco project of APC (Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights) closes the compilation in the best way possible with a gorgeous slice of synth rhythm heaven.

[Premiere] Vito & Druzzi: “Battle Ax”

Brooklyn-based musical/production/DJ duo Vito & Druzzi, aka Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel “Druzzi” Andruzzi, best known for being the drummer and multi-instrumentalist of DFA’s The Rapture, are no newcomers to the world of rhythm and harmony. After dropping a slew of top-notch releases and sublime edits, they’re back with a new EP, entitled “Boom Boom Battle Ax”, which marks the pair’s first record for the newly minted Brooklyn label Earth2Ether. The record features three tracks of maniacally mechanical techno-disco-funk that circumvent belief and challenge expectations.

To make these slightly twisted, back to basics dance floor vibrations, the assiduous duo dug their lonely 808 drum-machine out of the closet and gave it a big hug. The result is an EP made with love, the inspiration that comes with reconnection and an optimistic atavism unburdened by outdated morals. Today, we’re psyched to premiere our favorite track from the EP, “Battle Ax”, a great tune that finds Vito & Druzzi in fine form. Blast it above, exclusively on La.Ga.Sta.

The “Boom Boom Battle Ax” EP drops on October 18th. Pre-order it here.

The Hundred In The Hands, the New York duo of Eleanore Everdell and Jason Friedman, have a new album on the way, called “Love In The Black Stack”, with a bunch of tracks produced by Brooklyn’s house duo Vito & Druzzi, aka The Rapture’s Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel Andruzzi. The 11-track record, described as a “swoony late-night soundtrack to the catastrophic present”, marks the pair’s first release since 2012’s LP “Red Night” on Warp. Our first taste comes in the form of the record’s closing track “I Follow”, a moody, slow burning affair. Give it a spin above, and drive slow.

The Hundred In The Hands’ third album “Love In The Black Stack” arrives on June 16th via their own label New Ancestors. You can pre-order your copy here.

Brooklyn-based house duo Vito & Druzzi, aka The Rapture’s Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel “Druzzi” Andruzzi, continues to churn out quality edits, this time with this excellent rework of “Poppies” by the legendary folk singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie. The original track is taken from her sixth album “Illuminations”, which was released in 1969. It’s yours for free.

Speaking about the “Poppies” edit, Vito says: “I vividly remember buying the Buffy Saint-Marie album ‘Illuminations’ at a record store called Jerry’s in Pittsburgh. Jerry’s was a regular stop on tour where we’d usually spend a day buying and looking at records. When I found Illuminations I didn’t know anything about the album or much about Buffy Sainte-Marie but I liked the artwork and thought it looked like an interesting album so I bought it. It turned out to be a total gem. Poppies was always a standout track on the album, the vocal on Poppies is really beautiful and works seamlessly with the backing track. I’ve been meaning to rework it for years.”

Brooklyn’s Vito & Druzzi, the duo of Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel “Druzzi” Andruzzi, best known for being the drummer and multi-instrumentalist of DFA’s The Rapture, bring some much-needed Brazilian vibes for the summer with a killer edit from their vault that finally sees the light of day! No strangers to deliver flawless, dancefloor-ready edits, Vito & Druzzi have done a great job in reworking 1978’s track “Correio Da Estação Do Brás” by the legendary Brazilian musician Tom Zé. This rework is nothing less than a love letter to the most eccentric, visionary and irreverent member of Brazil’s Tropicália movement. You can now download it for absolutely free, exclusively on La.Ga.Sta. We love Tom Zé too!

“This edit has been sitting on our hard drive for over 3 years. We included it on a mix we did for Throne Of Blood in the Winter of 2013 and since then friends and DJ’s have asked us about it. We always intended to put this out. Now, it’s finally here,” says Vito & Druzzi. “What can we say about Tom Zé other than, “We love Tom Zé!”? Most anything we could tell you about the man you could either easily look up your self via the Information Super Highway, or experience by immersing your ears in the wonderful sounds of his catalog (which we strongly urge you to do if you haven’t already). If your already familiar with his work hopefully the twist we added brings you a new appreciation and love, and if this is entirely new to you…lucky you!”

Vito & Druzzi, the Brooklyn-based house duo of Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel “Druzzi” Andruzzi, best known for being the drummer and multi-instrumentalist of The Rapture, have shared a heavy polyrhythmic rework of Hugh Masekela’s 1984 classic “Don’t Go Lose It Baby”, and it’s a great one! Do yourself a favor a grab the “Don’t Go Hugh” rework for free in all its wav glory. Enjoy the ride!

“When I moved to NYC in the summer of 1999 one of the first shows I saw was Hugh Masekela in Central Park. I wasn’t very familiar with his music (he was playing with Carl Craig who I had come to see) but after his concert I left a life long fan. Watching him live was incredibly inspiring. Man! Could he play a mean cowbell!” – Vito
