While Yuksek’s much loved fourth album “Nosso Ritmo”, perhaps his most natural album to date, is still on repeat on our car stereo, the French electro-pop maestro and Partyfine label founder dropped the first batch of remixes from his recent record. The “Nosso Ritmo Remixes” – Part 1 features some quality remixes of the album’s standout cut “Gorgeous” by the likes of Dombrance, Mighty Mouse, Chloé and Jack Burton. The remix EP also includes an extended disco mix.

To celebrate the release of “Nosso Ritmo Remixes” (Part 1), we are delighted to premiere a superb remix of Yuksek’s “Cadenza”, a tropical-flavored summer jam featuring Parisian duo Polo & Pan, by Boys’ Shorts, the production duo of Vangelis, one half of LAGASTA and Greek-born, London-based producer and DJ Tareq. In the hands of Boys’ Shorts, the original cut turns into a gorgeous club-ready number. Just perfect for the late summer nights. Better yet, it’s available for free download. Grab it now exclusively on LAGASTA.

The “Nosso Ritmo Remixes” (Part 1) is out now via Partyfine / Sweat It Out. Buy it here.

#YouAreNotAlone: With the current circumstances and the weird, turbulent times all over the globe, we asked our friends to choose a favourite album or a track for these isolated days, and share it with us along with a photo. An album a day keeps the bad vibes away. Stay safe.

Today our beloved French producer and Partyfine label founder Yuksek shares with us one of his favourite records of all time to listen during the isolation, De La Soul’s timeless 1989 debut “3 Feet High And Rising”.

In Yuksek’s own words: “This album from De La Soul is definitely one of my top 10 albums of all time. Good vibe hip-hop, inspired soul and a bunch of amazing samples. I’m listening to this record for more than 20 years and I can’t ever get bored of it. Good or bad thing is that there was so many uncleared samples on “3 Feet High And Rising” that’s not available for streaming. So try to get a copy. It’d be damn hard to chose a favourite track, but let’s say ‘The Magic Number'”.

French producer Yuksek has returned with his fourth studio album “Nosso Ritmo”, perhaps his most natural album to date, out now via his own Partyfine imprint and Sweat It Out. The 15-track record, which follows 2017’s “Nous Horizon”, is the result of three years of experimentation and collaboration for no other purpose than shared pleasure. The album features a bunch of French finest artists on collaboration duty: Breakbot, Polo & Pan, Isaac Delusion, Zombie Zombie, Juveniles… just to name a few!

“Nosso Ritmo” is a record that draws on myriad influences. Collaborations with Fatnotronic (Philippi & Rodrigo) and Processman, as well as his tribute to Hélio Matheus (“Mais Kriola”), confirm his taste for the Latin sounds and the richness of its 70s and 80s disco scene. Other influences are also apparent in “Nosso Ritmo”, perhaps due to Yuksek’s uninhibited and more instinctive approach, from his direct filiation with artists such as Sylvester on “Into The Light” sung by Isaac Delusion or tributes to 90s dirty house with “G.F.Y.”, sung by Queen Rose, “This Feeling” and “Gorgeous” in collaboration with Confidence Man.

Yuksek’s taste for experimentation and destructured electronic pieces also shines through on the album, especially in his collaborations with Zombie Zombie and Polo & Pan, on ‘J’aime les Synthes’ as well as ‘Burning’, produced with his longtime studio companion Jean-Sylvain from Juveniles.

Here, we have for you one of the record’s standout cuts, “The Only Reason”, which finds Yuksek in fine form teaming up with Breakbot and Irfane to deliver a surefire dancefloor groover! After getting your fill of “The Only Reason” above, make sure to check out the video for “Gorgeous”, featuring Confidence Man, below. The video was directed by Yuksek himself and Jerome de Gerlache.

Our beloved producer “drives through” his favourite year, 1977, and delivers an excellent 73-minute mixtape full of great disco tunes. WHAT a ride!

In his own words: “Here’s my 1977 disco selection, with a few hits and other tracks that you may discover. Keywords are “Love”, “Together”, “Dance”, 70’s are definitely an other era. There is a fine line between kitsch and vintage, and I think that’s what my selection is about, my deep respect for that music and that period of time. Poolside have shared a new video for their superb single “Feel Alright”, which feautres features legendary skateboarder Braydon Szafransk. The track “Feel Alright” is lifted from their second “Heat” LP, which will finally drop on May 18th.

Speaking about the video Poolside’s Jeffrey Paradise says: “The theme of ‘Feel Alright’ is about making the best of a subpar situation. More specifically in this video, it’s about being stuck in a life that’s not how you envisioned and still striving to find happiness and purpose. Skateboarding is used in a surreal way to symbolize Braydon’s attempt to escape his complacency by hitting the open road, yet the more he travels the more he goes nowhere fast. He can’t outrun himself or his life, however, along the way he lets go of the past. Braydon ultimately embraces the present and feels the satisfaction of living life in the moment, independent of external circumstances”. Watch the video above, and make sure to check out Yuksek’s remix of the track below.
