Berlin-via-Melbourne producer Tornado Wallace has shared a psychedelic video for his new track “Midnight Mania”. It’s taken from his forthcoming mini-album of the same name, which will drop on March 20th via Optimo Music. The five-track record, which follows 2017’s debut LP “Lonely Planet” on Gerd Janson’s Running Back label, is “inspired by earth, both the planet itself as the small insignificant celestial being in the great cosmic story, and earth – the dirt itself – the womb and the tomb of life‘s mysteries and wild manifestations.”

Greek psych-pop musician Larry Gus has shared a new video for the track “Total Diseases (Subservience)”, taken from last year’s great “Subservient” LP, his fourth release for DFA Records. Directed by Vasilis Katsoupis, the clip is the cheeky, charming result of a several years-long collaboration between two friends.

In Larry Gus own words: “Vasilis and I started collaborating back in 2003, and we have done countless things together,” says Larry. “One of our favorite projects was the video for the song ‘Brass Park (Surround).’ We shot that video in Thessaloniki, Greece on a Digital Harinezumi, on December 31st, 2009. After exactly ten years, which is the 31st of December of 2019, we were both again in Thessaloniki, and we decided to shoot another one, with the exact same camera, on (almost) the exact same streets”.

LA’s Poolside first album in three years is finally here, and it’s definitely worth the wait. Entitled “Low Season”, the eight-track record has been on repeat on our car stereo for a while now. The album, which follows 2017’s second LP “Heat”, marks the first Poolside album to be wholly helmed by producer/guitarist/DJ/vocalist Jeffrey Paradise.

Epic in aspiration yet intimate at its heart, the album is filled with sun-drenched synth pop, tidal rhythms, immersive electronics, tactile psychedelia, hazy house and pure daytime disco vibes. “‘Low Season’ is an album that is sonically and lyrically akin to traveling to someplace tropical then finding the beaches empty and the weather uncertain,” says Paradise.

Here, we have for you the track “I Feel High”, featuring Cut Copy’s Ben Browning on vocals, one of the record’s many highlights. Below, you can watch the video for the single “Around The Sun”, featuring shimmering vocals from Los Angeles-based psych outfit Amo Amo, which was directed by Bill Heffley.

The album “Low Season” is out now out on Pacific Standard Records. Buy it here.

German duo Session Victim, aka Hauke Freer and Matthias Reiling, are gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album “Needledrop”, the follow-up to 2017’s “Listen To Your Heart”, on March 6th via Night Time Stories, the London based sistesr label to the coveted LateNightTales. The release marks a notable shift towards the downtempo dynamic of fellow masters of the LP format, such as Nightmares on Wax and DJ Shadow, artists that have played a strong influence in Session Victim’s varied output over the last decade.

Before its release, Session Victim have shared the video for the record’s second single “The Pain”, which incorporates electronic touches whilst skillfully holding intact a chugging groove, bringing listeners on a hypnotic journey complimented by an echoed soothing vocal sample. In their own words: “‘The Pain’, which we wrote at Hauke’s place in Berlin, was one of the last tracks on the album to come together. Right from the start this one had a different vibe that we felt was an essential piece to the overall record, channelling something more serious and urgent but ultimately uplifting”.

Directed by Peter Malla, the accompanying video offers a visual representation for the context of the track. Delivering an intimate and cinematic piece shot across London containing an ever-pressing theme and sense of perseverance, optimism and gaining strength through adversity and pain.

Róisín Murphy: “Narcissus” Video

Irish dance-pop queen Róisín Murphy has blessed us with another incredible, self-directed video. For her brand new, string-drenched, hard-driven disco epic “Narcissus”, Murphy channels the mood at the very height of Disco, filtered through the lens of late seventies primetime Italian Television, taking particular inspiration from the Italian ‘Queen of TV’ Rafaella Carrrà. Indeed, over the course of 6 brilliantly eye strobing minutes, Róisín gets the details of the legendary Italian icon just right but gives it her own typically off-kilter spin. A “colourgasm” and “joyfully vulgar” according to Murphy.

Neon Indian: “Toyota Man” Video

Neon Indian is back with a new track, called “Toyota Man”, which marks a new era for Alan Palomo’s project, as it’s his first song in his native language (Spanish) while musically introducing a new psych-cumbia infused direction. The release comes hand-in-hand with a self-directed video, starring Alan Palomo, Brian DeRan, Chris Silcox and Veronica Sanders, which you now watch above.

Speaking about the video, Alan says :“Toyota Man” was filmed along the road map of what essentially was my path to American citizenship: Monterrey, the Nuevo Laredo border, San Antonio, and finally Austin. The process is a multiple decade commute known by many Latinos and other Americans. Though my music has always been generally apolitical, I realized when recording this song that it was impossible to write biographically (in the rhetorical context of the Trump administration) without being entirely that: political. The story of my family, which before felt commonly American, was suddenly politicized. Recognizing the absurdity of it all, I thought it would be refreshing to address the social narrative around immigration through comedy – nods to Benny Hill, misremembered San Antonio car commercials, and School House Rock. My family and I had a ton of fun making this and I hope it’s equally as fun to watch. Enjoy!”

The single “Toyota Man” is out now via Transgressive Records. Buy it here.
