Neon Indian is back with a new track, called “Toyota Man”, which marks a new era for Alan Palomo’s project, as it’s his first song in his native language (Spanish) while musically introducing a new psych-cumbia infused direction. The release comes hand-in-hand with a self-directed video, starring Alan Palomo, Brian DeRan, Chris Silcox and Veronica Sanders, which you now watch above.

Speaking about the video, Alan says :“Toyota Man” was filmed along the road map of what essentially was my path to American citizenship: Monterrey, the Nuevo Laredo border, San Antonio, and finally Austin. The process is a multiple decade commute known by many Latinos and other Americans. Though my music has always been generally apolitical, I realized when recording this song that it was impossible to write biographically (in the rhetorical context of the Trump administration) without being entirely that: political. The story of my family, which before felt commonly American, was suddenly politicized. Recognizing the absurdity of it all, I thought it would be refreshing to address the social narrative around immigration through comedy – nods to Benny Hill, misremembered San Antonio car commercials, and School House Rock. My family and I had a ton of fun making this and I hope it’s equally as fun to watch. Enjoy!”

The single “Toyota Man” is out now via Transgressive Records. Buy it here.

Sam Shepherd, aka Floating Points, has shared a video for his track “Anasickmodular” that gives a brief glimpse into the visual world created by Hamill Industries. The clip was filmed during rehearsals at Sala Hiroshima, Barcelona, last September. The track “Anasickmodular” is lifted from Floating Points’ second album “Crush”, his first album in four years, following his excellent 2015 debut LP “Elaenia”.

“This music video dives us into behind the scenes of the making of Floating Points’ live show, showing the machinery involved in creating the audio-reactive visuals. These are created using audio signals from a Buchla system into a modified Vectrex screen, a game console from the 80s.”

Directed and produced by Hamill Industries.

The album “Crush” is out now via Ninja Tune. Buy it here.

French electro-pop trio Hypnolove have shared a great new video for their sun-kissed single “Climax”, taken from their forthcoming third algum “Plexus”, set to drop on October 25th via Record Makers. For their new album entirely recorded in a proper studio for the first time, Hypnolove was forced to more coherence in their sound. They decided to follow a clear line: make a 100% French record inspired by the French dance music made in France during the 70’s and 80’s, when a handful of studio heads were driven by the ambition of conquering the world by reappropriating the emerging new genre that was funk at the time.

Directed by Marco Dos Santos.

Sanctuary Lakes: “Until The End”

Say hello to Sanctuary Lakes, a brand new project of Tim Hoey, who’s most widely known for his work in Cut Copy and Andy Szekeres of Midnight Juggernauts, forged out of lo fi folk psychedelia, instrumental library records and delicate electronic sounds. Borne in Brooklyn during idle time improvising in front of the meditation station on television, Tim Hoey sent rough sketches of his noodling to Andy Szekeres in Melbourne, initially to see what his old friend made of them. Beyond merely offering feedback, Szekeres went ahead and added to the songs, initiating a workflow than became an almost wordless conversation between the two, as files drifted back and forth with the currents until deemed done.

As two musicians with years and albums of experience under their belts, Sanctuary Lakes came together during a period of reflection and faint anxiety that their best ideas might be behind them. Work on the album acted as a form of therapy and confirmed that the stream of creativity still runs strong.

The pair’s debut, self-titled album is out now on Cut Copy’s Cutters Records, and it’s a great ride from start to finish. After getting your fill of their new track “Until The End”, make sure to check out the video for the stellar first single “The Long Fade Away”, firected by Christopher Hill and Jackson Dickie, below. And they’re back! Hot Chip will drop their electrifying seventh album, entilted “A Bath Full of Ecstasy”, in June. Their third album for Domino, “A Bath Full of Ecstasy” is the group’s definitive release, crystallising the sound they’ve become celebrated for – bridging euphoria and melancholy with colourful melodies, idiosyncratic vocalisations and pounding electronic pop rhythms.

The band have shared the record’s first single, “Hungry Child”; for 6 glorious minutes, Hot Chip fuse the uplifting soft pads and melodic keys of classic soulful house and the percussive swing of UK garage, full of sweet vocalisations and rhythmic snaps, to make an instant, club-ready hit. The video for “Hungry Child” is directed by Saman Kesh and features Martin Starr and Milana Vayntrub, and is unmissable. Watch it above.

Hot Chip’s “A Bath Full of Ecstasy” drops on June 21 on Domino. Pre-order it here.
