EVENT ON FACEBOOK

It’s party time! This Saturday May 6th, we’re thrilled to welcome South London favourites Chaos In The CBD for the first time in Greece for a special DJ set at Uberdooze in Thessaloniki. This will be a night to remember!

Born in New Zealand, but based in Peckham for the last few years, the brotherly duo of Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales have made a real mark on the dance scene with their quality tracks and sublime releases. Recently in 2015 the brothers had somewhat of an international breakthrough year after releasing stellar EPs for London labels Church and Rhythm Section International. Both releases demonstrated the pair’s penchant for starry-eyed, jazz-inflicted deep house, a sound they have been honing since 2011.

Early 2016 saw the release of their most recent record “Digital Harmony” on Mule Musiq further enhancing the pair’s ears for complex, organic sounding drums mixed with tonal elements helping to create warm, hazy dance floor excursions. With their ever strengthening production credentials the brothers have been able to mark themselves out as one of the most eminent underground duos to emerge out of the South Pacific.

3 tracks to get you in the mood for LAGASTA party this Saturday:

JACQUES RENAULT

NYC producer/DJ Jacques Renault, co-founder of On The Prowl Records and Let’s Play House party/imprint with friend and partner Nik Mercer, needs no introduction. We’re more than excited for having him as a guest at our next LAGASTA event. Our beloved producer and DJ had yet another fantastic year with two remix EPs on Let’s Play House, an album full of edits on Local Talk and numerous quality remixes, including reworks for Midnight Magic and Yuksek, among others. He will spin at Superstore’s basement just one day before his set at Panorama. Ahead of his DJ set at Dalston Superstore, Jacques Renault did a Q&A with Vangelis from La.Ga.Sta. about life, radio and noise.

DANIEL.T.

Los Angeles-based producer/DJ Daniel Terndrup, also known as one half of Cosmic Kids, is someone we’ve been following since the beginning. All the way back in 2011, when Cosmic Kids dropped their debut “Reginald’s Groove” 12” on Throne Of Blood, an instant classic. Over the past two years, the talented producer and avid vinyl collector has been flying solo as Daniel.T., delivering top-notch remixes and original tracks, groove-filled disco edits and mixtapes for sunlit road trips. We are thrilled to welcome the mighty German producer and Tuff City Kids member Lauer for our next La.Ga.Sta. party at our favorite hangout Dalston Superstore. Joining him on December 2 is a lineup of friends and amazing humans: Princess Julia, Dance Armstrong & Chaka Khan’t (Disco Spritz), Wes Baggaley and your hosts for the night A Man To Pet and Lucy Fizz. It’s gonna be a great event, a ride not to be missed.

Frankfurt-based DJ/producer/musician Phillip Lauer is someone we’ve been following for a long, long time. He performs as Lauer and also as one part in the duos Arto Mwambe and Tuff City Kids alongside with Running Back’s head honcho Gerd Janson. Raised on a strict diet of hip hop & punk rock, Philipp finally succumbed to the pleasures of electronic music in the late nineties when he started to produce deep house tracks. His excellent debut solo album “Phillips” was released back in 2012 on Running Back, followed by “Borndom” in 2015 on Permanent Vacation. This year saw Mr. Melody dropping two great EPs, “Birsk”/”Kilian” on Futureboogie and “Tearsh” on Live At Robert Johnson, and more recently Tuff City Kids’ debut album “Adoldesscent” on Permanent Vacation. We’d expect nothing but quality from Lauer.

La.Ga.Sta. presents: Gabe Gurnsey LIVE [Factory Floor/DFA]

La.Ga.Sta. is driving once again to London’s Dalston Superstore for something rather special. We’re beyond psyched to welcome Factory Floor’s founder Gabe Gurnsey as a headliner for our new event. Prepare yourself for a dynamic solo live set from one of our favorite co-drivers. Don’t miss this one. Gonna be a great event.

Factory Floor, now a duo consisting of Gabe Gurnsey and Nik Void, recently dropped their great second album “25 25” for DFA Records, the follow-up to their acclaimed 2013 self-titled debut. With their music stripped to a mesmerising dance of percussion, fragmented voice and melody, it captures the next vital stage in the evolution of one of the UK’s most restless and exploratory groups.

Before embarking on Factory Floor’s sophomore effort, London-based producer Gabe Gurnsey began experimenting with his own material and was introduced to Richard Fearless (Death in Vegas) and his dark and distinctive label Drone Records. His debut solo release, a two-tracker called “Falling Phase”, was released last year release on Drone with more to follow. On the back of the single Gabe has developed a solo live show that he is touring worldwide.

Get in the mood and grab a free download of Gabe Gurnsey superb remix of Shura’s “White Light” here.

Tomorrow is party time! La.Ga.Sta. is driving to London for the second “ΓΚΑΡΑΖ” (Garage) event at our favorite hangout Dalston Superstore. Driving with us on August 5th will be two of our favorite peeps, Cut Copy’s frontman Dan Whitford under his dance alter-ego Bobby Boomerang and fellow Aussie DJ/producer and Cutters Records very own Knightlife. They are joined by resident Vangelis, Nic Fisher, Fannar and Wes Baggaley. It’s gonna be epic fun. Get on down! For more info head here.

Bobby Boomerang (Cut Copy/Cutters Records)

Cut Copy’s frontman and Cutters Records label boss Dan Whitford recently stepped out from behind the microphone to drop his ace debut solo release, a two-tracker called “Uncharted Waters”, under his dance alter-ego Bobby Boomerang. Dan Whitford has long held a fondness for the deeper reaches of dance music, having DJed an eclectic mixture of house and disco and in Melbourne’s clubs some years before keyboards and guitars cross pollinated to bring Cut Copy into existence. And in some ways his first solo release is a musical homecoming. On “Uncharted Waters” we find Bobby Boomerang returning to its place of origin to explore his reinterpretations of Balearic house and techno, generated by experiments with his menagerie of vintage drum machines, samplers, and keyboards.

Knightlife (Cutters Records)

Australian producer and DJ Mike Gamwell, aka Knightlife, who now has found home in deepest Bath in the UK, never ceases to amaze us. Since first emerging from Melbourne’s smoke-machine laden dancefloors during disco-tinged house revival of the late ’00s, Mike Gamwell’s penchant for forward-thinking electronica paired with meticulous production has entrenched him in the upper echelons of Australian producers. Signed to Cut Copy’s authoritative Cutters Records in 2007, over the next few years Gamwell released a string of excellent EPs and top-notch remixes that succintly encapsulated the sights and sounds of ever-evolving electronic landscape.

Hey vroomers, La.Ga.Sta. is once again driving up north, from Athens to Thessaloniki, and for a damn good reason. This Saturday October 10th, we kick off a new season of exciting events with a big party at Cantina Tropicana. Waiting for us there are two exceptional co-drivers: UK cosmic-disco specialists and avid vinyl collectors Psychemagik and Germany-based Australian producer/DJ Tim Sullivan, aka This Soft Machine. It’s gonna be absolutely magik!

Our all-time favorite Psychemagik, the unstoppable duo of Tom Coveney and Danny McLewin, are not only incredibly prolific, but remarkably consistent in delivering top-notch original tracks and remixes, killer disco edits and eclectic compilations of obscure and long-lost gems in their excellent “Magik” series over the past few years. We’ve been following Psychemagik for a long, long time, and they never cease to amaze us.

Having previously operated under the moniker Das Moth, Tim Sullivan has always wowed us with his quality releases. And he continues to prove that he is one of Australian’s finest producers under his new alias This Soft Machine. With a killer debut “On & On”/”This Place Was Meant For Me” EP on Eskimo Recordings under his belt, he’s coming for the first time in Thessaloniki for a special DJ set, before his European tour with Flight Facilities.

Get your groove on with Psychemagik’s newest house banger “Mink & Shoes”, featuring Navid Izadi on vocal duties, and This Soft Machine’s great tune On & On” with alluring vocals from Lorraine Nicholson. La.Ga.Sta.’s party starts after 22:00 pm, free entrance.

Yeah, it’s time to party! La.Ga.Sta. is once again driving up north. For our second “Sunburn” party in Thessaloniki, Greece we invited two of our favorite producers, Vampire Weekend’s bassist Chris Baio, who crafts his own brand of euphoric, tropical-flavored house under his Baio moniker and our beloved Greek electronic musician K.BHTA.

New York’s Chris Baio, who’s currently based in London, is a passionate lover of dance music with eclectic taste and no allegiance to genre. He used to ran a radio station and threw basement shows and DJ’s parties at Columbia University in New York, and now he delivers solid dance tunes under his DJ name, Baio. He already wowed us with his EPs “Sunburn” (Greco-Roman), “Mira” (Future Classic) and “On&On&On&On”/”Missive” (Club Mod), while offered dancefloor-ready remixes for Cults, Broken Bells, Lane 8, and New Navy, amongst others. Right before the release of his highly anticipated debut solo album, set to drop soon on Glassnote Records, Baio is coming for the first time in Greece to extend this summer to eternity.

Greek electronic artist K.BHTA (formerly of the legendary Stereo Nova) needs no introduction. We’ve been following him for ages and we’re so excited for his appearance at our “Sunburn” party. K.BHTA is coming to throw down a special DJ set to celebrate the release of his new brand-single “Monochrome”, the first taste of his forthcoming eighth solo album, which will arrive this fall via EMI. Bring it on!
