Veteran NYC producer/DJ Alex Gimeno, aka Ursula 1000, is getting ready to drop his new album “Galleria” later this month, but in the meantime, we’re treated to the record’s great second single “Stand Up Straight”. Featuring Sal P, aka Salvatore Principato of dance/funk/punk pioneers Liquid Liquid, the track is a hypnotic percussive house groover filled with low slung bass, anxious guitar, kalimba, and mad timbale. The single comes backed with three remixes by NYC edit masters Duane Harriott and Sean Marquand, aka Devin Dare, Scatalogics Record’s Ulysses, and disco mavericks In Flagranti.

Today, we’re excited to share with you In Flagranti’s excellent version of Ursula 1000’s “Stand Up Straight”. This remix finds our beloved duo of Sasha Crnobrnja and Alex Gloor in such fine form, injecting the original track with a healthy dose of disco funk vibes. You can now stream this groove-filled remix, exclusively on La.Ga.Sta

Set to drop on August 28th via Insect Queen Music, Ursula 1000’s seventh album “Galleria” takes you on another eclectic time warp where nu-disco, synthwave and boogie funk pulsate alongside to the sounds of jazzy hip hop, latin breaks and French Touch house in a multi-colored blend as only Ursula 1000 can deliver.

Tendts: “Who Are The Pleiadians” Video

Greek brotherly duo Tendts are making “music that you can dance to, or not!” The compositions of Christos and Fotis Papadakis are both emotive and movement inducing, even though they are written and structured with disparate elements that refuse to fall into obvious patterns. They consist of palpitating beats, imaginative textures, seductive melodies and sporadic bursts of treated vocals.

Following on from a slew of quality releases, the duo have now returned with their new EP “It’s Everywhere”, a concept six-tracker soundtracking Tendts’ intergalatic encounter with The Pleiadians (dimension traversing Nordic aliens to the unenlightened) at the far edge of the universe. One of our favorite cuts from the record, the EPs opener “Who Are The Pleiadians”, gets a trippy video that we’re delighted to premiere it on La.Ga.Sta. Check it out.

The “It’s Everywhere” EP, backed with a stellar remix from Palmbomen, is out now on Lower Parts. Buy it here.

Last year, the ever-excellent San Francisco label Dark Entries has reissued another sublime album from Greek electronic pioneer Lena Platonos, her debut solo album “Μάσκες Ηλίου” (“Sun Masks”). Originally recorded in 1984, the “Sun Masks” LP was Platonos’ first record to feature her own lyrics and vocals. The album featured experiments with different sounds and a new batch of electronic equipment, such as the Roland TR 808 drum machine and Yamaha C60 synthesizer. Lena narrates each song in deadpan fashion, skillfully reciting her surreal Greek poetry. Her lyrics deal with the futility of love, the gap of human relationships, consumerist alienation in the bourgeois lifestyle of the 1980s.

Dark Entries has recruited four of their favorite producers to remix their favorite tracks from “Sun Masks”. The remix EP also features a great new remix of “Hoping By Shopping” by New York-based DJ/producer/vocalist and Firehouse Recordings boss Kim Ann Foxman. In her capable hands, the spacey robotic original track is transformed into a dynamic deep house workout, tough and dreamy all at once. You can now stream it exclusively on La.Ga.Sta.

Lena Platonos’ “Sun Masks” Remixes EP, which also includes three finely crafted remixes by Avalon Emerson, Lena Willikens and Borusiade, is out now on Dark Entries. Buy it here.

Sheffield maverick Richard Barratt, formerly DJ Parrot, one half of the “Bleep Techno” duo Sweet Exorcist and part of the dance act All Seeing I, is a man of many talents and aliases. Last year, he dropped his self-titled debut LP for DFA Records under his Crooked Man moniker. A great album that truly showcased his incredible blend of wonky electronic rhythms, heavy bass and razor sharp, politically aware lyrics. One of the record’s standout cuts was the epic closer “Happiness”, a piano-led house banger with soulfully seductive diva vocals. The rich and powerful vocals for “Happiness” were sung by Amy Douglas, who’s also the singer in Juan Maclean’s side-project Peach Melba.

Now, Crooked Man’s instant-classic “Happiness” gets a new EP with three alternate versions of the track. The record also includes a killer “12 Inch version” of “Happiness” that clocks in at eleven minutes. You can stream stream it exclusively on La.Ga.Sa. “‘Happiness’ is about nostalgia, specifically the yearning, happy/sad feeling of hearing an old record that you love”, says Richard Barratt.

Crooked Man’s “Happiness” EP drops on June 23 on DFA. Pre-order it here.

The last time we heard from veterans In Flagranti, the Swiss duo of Sasha Crnobrnja and Alex Gloor, was back in April, when they dropped their excellent fifth album “Sprezzatura”, a mind-bending record influenced by the mixtapes of their youth. Now, they’re already back with a new EP, entitled “Camelwalk”, which features Italian DJ/producer/musician DJ Rocca playing flute. Also known as one half of Erodiscotheque alongside disco superstar Dimitri From Paris, DJ Rocca has been consistently prolific over the years, but a little known fact that he’s a great musician too, especially on the flute. This new track “Camelwalk” by In Flagranti is proof of that. A finely crafted flute-driven disco burner.

The EP comes complete with two remixes by Mexican producer Inigo Vontier and Spain’s finest Rayko, and a bonus beat version. Today, we’re psyched to premiere the great remix of “Camelwalk” by Spanish producer extraordinaire Rayko. On his “Spiritual Wiri” version, Rayko delivers a classy remix. You can now stream it exclusively on La.Ga.Sta.

In Flagranti’s “Camelwalk” EP arrives in both vinyl and digital formats on June 30th on their own Codek imprint. Pre-order your 12” here.

We’ve been following Tel Aviv-based veteran discoteers Rabo & Snob for a good while now, and it’s safe to say that the prolific duo of Ronen Sabo and Eyal Rob have never cease to amaze us. With a slew of top-notch releases and quality disco edits via notable labels such as Whiskey Disco and Disco Halal, Rabo & Snob have easily become one of our favorite acts. Now, the’re getting ready to drop their debut EP on LoveDancing, a four-tracker called “Yawumna” of floor-filling, afro-house jams.

Today, we’re psyched to share with all of you the EP’s title track, a killer afro-disco stomper that features vocals from Soma Iddrissu. The seven-minute tune “Yawumna” is the fruit of the duo’s visit to Ghana and the result of a chance meeting at Accra’s main market while the pair were out looking for records and handmade percussions. The three quickly connected and Soma was recorded on vocals and the Kora. This one will get some serious rotations on our car stereo this summer.

The “Yawumna” EP, which also includes the dancefloor-ready tune “Ifa”, featuring Azizaa, and two fine remixes by Let’s Play House head honcho Jacques Renault and Art of Tones, arrives on May 12th via LoveDancing. Pre-order your 12” here.
