Copenhagen-based producer Kasper Bjørke just dropped a strong remix package of his “Nothing Gold Can Stay” (Part A) EP, with a carefully selected and diverse list of producers. The EP features reworks by the likes of Tensnake (already featured here) Each Other, the project of New Yorkers Justin Strauss and Max Pask, Marcello Giordani, Bostro Pesopeo, and an ambient version of the title track by Kasper Bjørke himself. Here, we have for you a stellar seven-minute remix of “Du Du Du”, featuring Tomas Høffding of WhoMadeWho, by Italian maestro Marcello Giordani, one half of Marvin & Guy.

Speaking about Marcello Giordani’s remix, Kasper Bjørke says: “I had to have Marcello do a version of ‘Du Du Du’ which already has a very distinct 80ies feeling – but I knew that Marcello could enhance that vibe by his musical sense of classic Italian Disco – and I think he made the perfect version, with playful arpeggios and wonderful synth stabs complimenting the Danish vocals by Høffding in a really perfect way! The remix is a brilliant dance floor starter and I have already experienced it do its magic many times!”

The “Nothing Gold Can Stay” Remixes (Part A) is out now via hfn music. Get it here.

#YouAreNotAlone: With the current circumstances and the weird, turbulent times all over the globe, we asked our friends to choose a favourite album or a track for these isolated days, and share it with us along with a photo. An album a day keeps the bad vibes away. Stay safe.

Today our beloved Marvin & Guy, the Italian duo of Alessandro Parlatore and Marcello Giordani, share with us one of their favourite albums, Metro Area’s 2002 self-titled debut LP, a timeless record. In their own words:

“We chose this album by Metro Area because its a record that always gives positive energy for both of us and makes us want to dance again after this crisis is over. It’s quite difficult to pick just one track from the record, but if we have to chose one it will be ‘Let’s Get'”.

Well summer is here and the temperature is already high. But it gets higher with Marcello Giordani’s new EP “Riflessi” for MM Discos label. Marcello Giordani is what we call the epitome of Italo Disco music. He is a DJ, a producer, a fanatic collector of rare Italo-Disco vinyl and the founder of the disco-flavored and really successful “Italo Deviance” blog, through which he has been exploring the disco movement in Europe. He’s also known as one half of our beloved Marvin & Guy. The three-track “Riflessi” EP is the result of all his journeys and influences he’s had all these years.

Today, we’re delightes to premiere the record’s A-side cut, “Non Me Lo So Spiegare”. The track is a rhythmic ride to early 80’s disco space sounds that do feel so fresh and mind-blowing! Since we are dealing with the best Italo Disco vibes, vocoders play an important role both in the track and the EP. Classic melodic synthesizers and arpeggiators of that era are being reincarnated in an electro-boogie dancefloor tune. Fill it up!

The “Riflessi” 12’’ arrives on June 30th via MM Discos. Pre-order it here.

New label, new compilation, new adventures…

Excting news! After reaching volume 7, LAGASTA’s “Late Summer” compilation series has now become a trademark for the ending of summer. Featuring some of the finest tracks of the year, the compilation is packed with sun-kissed, groove-filled tunes that provide you with a never-ending summer feeling. Fueling many blissful joyrides at no cost and free download as always.

Now, LAGASTA is proud to present something new and special in the form of a double-vinyl album. A tangible compilation series, entitled “Last Gas Station”, which is compiled with only exclusive tracks. The first “Last Gas Station” compilation features 12 new tracks and aims to showcase artists that the site has followed for many years, as well as promising talents to keep an eye on. It also marks the launch of our exciting new label, LAGASTA Records.

The collection’s opening track is a sunshine-filled slice of daytime disco from LA’s duo Poolside recent album “Heat”, which is remix by Baio, aka Vampire Weekend’s bassist Chris Baio. Next one is Crew Love’s David Marston, who teams up with Dan Izco for a blissful ride. Mexico’s finest Zombies in Miami deliver a dancefloor odyssey in the form of “Temple of Love”, while Italian duo Marvin & Guy drop an epic slow-burner called “Asbek”.

DFA’s Greek mastermind Larry Gus never ceases to amaze us with yet another example of what he does best, followed by “Charlie Rose”, a classy, club-ready track from Brooklyn’s duo Vito & Druzzi, aka Vito Roccoforte and Gabriel “Druzzi” Andruzzi, best known for being the drummer and multi-instrumentalist of DFA’s The Rapture. Next up, Adelaide-based producer James Curd and Turbotito, aka Los Angeles producer Filip Nikolic of Poolside, have joined forces once again for a new collaborative tune “Lost” filled with warm grooves and melancholic synths, followed by our favorite NY unstoppable disco funkers Midnight Magic with their infectious track “Through The Motions” of pure disco glory.

Woolfy Vs Projections, the duo of California-based musicians Simon “Woolfy” James and Dan Hastie, keep the summer vibes going with their track “Your Past Behind”, a quality example of the signature sound. Disco Halal’s Moscoman teams up with MoRayon for an extra dose of lush vibes on “Play No Game”. LA’s Daniel T. takes us for a ride with “Moonlight Bounce”, a perfectly crafted tune full of melodic soundscapes, while Peaking Lights Acid Test, the live instrumental disco project of APC (Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights) closes the compilation in the best way possible with a gorgeous slice of synth rhythm heaven.

Italian duo Marvin & Guy are having quite a year. After dropping a solid EP called “Dance Abilities” on Young Adults back in February, they recently released their debut EP for John Talabot’s Hivern Discs imprint. Entitled “Egoísta”, the offering finds the duo expanding their palette with three original tracks that push the boundaries between the disco culture and a techno spirit. Our favorite cut from that release is the EPs title track, a “highly hypnotic joint driven by a warm analogue bassline and a spacey pad.” A killer tune that has been on repeat on our car stereo for a while now. We’d expect nothing less from Marvin & Guy.

Marvin & Guy’s “Egoísta” EP is out now via Hivern Discs. Pick up your 12” here.
