Just last week, British producer and Me Me Me label head Geoff Kirkwood, aka Man Power dropped a collaborative album with DFA stalwart Juan MacLean as Juan Power. Now, he’s already back with his second album, entitled “Economy”, his first LP in five years since the release of his debut self-titled album via Correspondant in 2015. The 8-track record was originally going to be a double 12” release that was packaged in a bio degradable “plastic” shopping bag instead of a traditional record sleeve. It was scheduled for release in October, but the current crisis has made him decide to bring the whole thing forward as a digital release via Bandcamp.

In his own words: “It was a nice idea, so I’m not ruling out it happening when the world is back on track, but for now I feel getting music out there is probably the most valuable thing i personally contribute to the world…For almost 5 years I’ve been creatively crippled by paying attention to the advice I’ve both received and have given regarding the way to make an album. Things like “an album should contain short tracks”. An album should feature vocalists. An album should be stylistically narrow. An album should be conceptually accessible. An album should contain an obvious single. This album represents the freedom I found when I decided to ignore everybody’s advice. Especially my own.”

With the “Economy” LP, Man Power has created one of his finest works to date. One of our favorite cuts off the record is “Boneyard”, a nearly 13 minutes epic ride. Blast it above, and ride with us.

The “Economy” LP is out now. Pick up your copy via Man Power’s Bandcamp.

Last year, DFA stalwart Juan MacLean and UK’s Me Me Me label head Man Power graced us with their great debut “Crescendo” EP on Life And Death under their collaborative alias Juan Power. Now, they’re back as Juan Power with a whole new album, which dropped today out of nowhere. The debut ‘Juan Power” LP consists of six quality tracks that would’ve formed their basis of their new releases on the label they were planning to launch. Given the current situation, they decided to independently release them ONLY via their Bandcamp page and no other streaming service.

In their own words: “These tracks would have formed the basis of our first 2 new Juan Power EPs on the label we were planing to launch for our own work in this project. However given the current situation and the financial uncertainty that the whole world is due to feel for the foreseeable future, we’ve decided that to independently release them together now represents the best way we can make our work available to people who want it in a way the helps us support ourselves through our work”.

Spoiler alert: Τhey’re bangers!

“The Juan Power LP is out now via Juan Power’s Bandcamp page. Its limited to 1000 downloads only! Buy it here.

Mexico-based British producer Geoff Kirkwood, aka Man Power, has decided to launch his very own label, Me Me Me. The label’s first release comes by the man himself with his great new track “Tachyon”, an eleven-minute house tune that takes the listener on a hypnotic ride. In his own words: “It stands to reason that if I’m calling my new label project Me Me Me, then I should be the one doing the talking. Deejaying has to contain a bit of selfishness, as it’s all about playing the music that you love, and other people listening. It’s a simple step to go from choosing the music in a club, to choosing music for a record label.”

The “Tachyon” 12”, which features a remix by DJ Tennis, drops on October 14th.

Having recently wowed us with his killer “Flacid Trax” EP, his debut release for John Talabot’s critically acclaimed Hivern Discs imprint, the elusive producer Man Power, whose true identity remains shrouded in mystery, will finally drop his self-titled debut LP in May. The 11-track record is said to find the enigmatic producer taking a step further away from the dancefloor and offers a deeper exploration in to his left-field influences, with pop sensibilities and elements of jazz, techno and Balearic. We can’t wait for it to come out.

Our first taste from that forthcoming album comes in the form of a video for the track “Inside”, which was created by Stuart Acker Holt. Watch the clip above, and revisit Man Power’s great tune “Renamed” that perfectly showcases his trademark acid-balearic sound, pairing percussion-heavy rhythms, lysergic basslines and cryptic melodies.

Man Power’s eponymous debut album will arrive on May 25th in both vinyl and digital formats on Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant label. Pre-order here.

It has been a rather busy year for Eskimo Recordings, and now the long-running Belgian label continues that streak of quality releases by dropping a new compilation called “The Green Collection”, the third installment of its ongoing compilation series based around colours. Set to drop later this month, the new 12-track compilation, which follows “The Pink Collection” and “The Blue Collection”, gathering new and recent tracks from the label’s current roster, showcasing a blend of indie-dance, nu-disco, electronica, and Balearic-tinged house.
