A Track A Day: Jex Opolis

A Track A Day:
Jex Opolis

With the current circumstances and the weird, turbulent times all over the globe, we asked our friends to choose a favourite track or an album for these isolated days, and share it with us along with a photo. A track a day keeps the bad vibes away. Stay safe.

Today we welcome Jex Opolis, the Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based electronic producer, DJ and Good Timin’ label head with a long and fruitful musical history. From his cassette and PC experiments in the 90s, through to his days in Edmonton’s pioneering electro duo DVAS in the early 2000s, and finally to the creation of his label in 2013, Jered Stuffco has always managed to do things his own way.

Jex Opolis writes: “My pick is Orenok’s ‘Angkor Vat’…I got this CD compilation last year but I don’t have a CD player at home. Fast forward to this year, I bought a 2003 Camry LE and it has an amazing stereo system, really punchy with subs. It’s the closest thing to a club I reckon. Anyway, this whole “After Trance” series fucking rules, but “After Trance 3″ and Disc 3 is beyond sick. I’ve been working on my own music too and I try to make it sound as good as Disc 3. The first track is ‘Orenok’ and it just nails that spacey non-cheesy trancey vibe. Reminds me of the music my stoner/raver buddies used to listen to on high school ski trips.”
