A Track A Day: Peter Invasion

For LAGASTA’s ongoing series, we asked our friends to choose a favourite track or an album for these weird times, and share it with us along with a photo. A track a day keeps the bad vibes away. Today we welcome our beloved Leipzig-based DJ and producer Peter Invasion, the head honcho of the German label Riotvan, one of the seminal figures behind both the scenes and decks in the burgeoning East German city. Peter Invasion shares with us one of his favourite records, Soulwax’s 2005 album “Nite Versions”, a collection of remixes of songs off their 2004’s “Any Minute Now” LP.

In his own words: “There’s a record that, as an indie kid, made me go to a Soulwax concert at Melt Festival in 2005 when I was 17 yrs old, without knowing what to expect. I read Soulwax on the line-up and just really wanted to see them. I wasn’t really aware of the fact that there was ‘Nite Versions’ under the name of Soulwax. Fully expecting to seeing an indie band, the surprise was more than huge to hear Soulwax’ ‘Nite Versions’, which was a complete game changer for me. The mixture of indie and techno was completely new for me until then and opened up a new world of music for me. Long story short – the Soulwax ‘Nite Versions’ record is the record par excellence for me, but the original moved me to go to the concert. One of the biggest influences in terms of electronic music that taught me a lot. Thanks for that!”
