Poolside’s Filip Nikolic, aka Turbotito, brings us closer to summer with his superb new track “Canção Para Laia”, a collaborative tune with Brazilian duo Phillipi & Rodrigo, also known as Fatnotronic. This tropical-flavored disco jam marks the second release from Turbotito’s newly minted label, Tito Records. The “Canção Para Laia” EP comes complete with an acid dub version and two remixes from In Flagrant and JKriv. Two of our favorite Los Angeles producers, Poolside’s Filip Nikolic, aka Turbotito, and all round cool guy Daniel.T. (of Cosmic Kids) have combined forces to deliver some serious heat. The pair’s first collaborative tune “Beat The Heat”, featuring backing vocals from their close friend Sean Guerin, is a sun-drenched disco groover with feel-good summer vibes. Let’s take a funky disco ride from Los Angeles down to São Paulo. Our good friends over at Chit Chat Records label return to our station with the first installment of their new “Brazilian Compilation Series”, a series of reworkings and edits of Brazilian funk and disco tracks curated by Fatnotronic, the São Paulo duo of Bonde Do Rolê’s DJ Gorky and Phillip A. (of Killer On The Dancefloor). The first volume includes four quality edits from Los Angeles-based “daytime disco” duo Poolside, aka Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise, Daniel.T (of Cosmic Kids fame), Tony Adams, and Fatnotronic themselves.
The record’s highlight is “Onda”, a sublime acid-tinged edit from Poolside in collaboration with Fatnotronic, which was already featured in La.Ga.Sta.’s Summer Compilation Vol. 4 and hit the top spot in our list of Top 50 Downloads of 2014. The original 1977 single by Brazilian soul legend Cassiano, has long been an in-demand item for Disco DJs.
