Kasper Bjørke: “Biarritz (Phunkadelica Siculo Disco Mix)”

Phunkadelica delivers a killer remix of “Biarritz”.

Kasper Bjørke returns with a new new remix package “Sprinkles Nite Mixes”.

Danish producer and DJ Kasper Bjørke just released his Balearic and 90s dream house infused studio album “Sprinkles” on hfn music this summer – and now Kasper has invited a bunch of exciting artists from around the world to remix some of the tracks taken from that album. Entitled “Sprinkles Nite Mixes”, this superb new remix package features reworks by the likes of Swedish rising star Storken, Italy’s duo Phunkadelica, New Zealand’s hot stuff producer Eden Burns, Germany’s iconic Roman Flügel, 1-800 Girls, one of the finest frontrunners on the British rave scene, Boys’ Shorts, and young, Copenhagen-based DJ, producer and label owner Prom Night.

If the album “Sprinkles” is fitting for an afternoon poolparty, the “Sprinkles Nite Mixes” EP thrives when the lights go down and club fills with strobe lights, smoke, and beautiful strangers, eager to celebrate life. Even though only half of the tracks from the original album are remixed here, the running time is doubled and the vibe entirely anew, making this a full-fledged LP release from one of Scandivanias finest exports in electronic music.

Before it drops, we’re excited to premiere the first remix to be revealed from the upcoming EP, a great rework of Kasper Bjørke’s “Biarritz”, one of the most upbeat tracks on the album, by Phunkadelica, the prolific Italian duo of Luca Marano and Toni Sambataro. The pair has done two very different takes on “Biarritz” – a shuffling drums gem with some distinct bells and trademark synths, two remixes for two different points of the night!

Phunkadelica’s “Siculo Disco Mix” of “Biarritz”, which we’re premiere here at LAGASTA, brings a very different ’80s synth rave vibe with futuristic undertones. We’d expect nothing less from Phunkadelica.

Speaking about the remix, Kasper Bjørke says: “I’ve been loving Phunkadelica for some time (we both released on Permanent Vacation and Correspondant) – and I really think they are peaking right now with both their original productions and their remixes. For example ‘The Decadence’ that came out on Correspondant this summer is one of the finest pieces of contemporary electronic dance music this year – and it became sort of a soundtrack for me (and I’m sure many others) at the post-Covid outdoor parties. And when I was putting together the ‘Sprinkles Nite Mixes’ (coming out on my birthday, Nov 12th!) I knew I had to ask them if they wanted to join – also since the album is highly inspired by Italian 90s house music – so it just made perfect sense. To my surprise they delivered not one but two super cool remixes, coming out this Friday as a teaser for the full remix album. Here is the Siculo Disco Mix!”

Blast it below.

The “Sprinkles Nite Mixes” EP arrives on November 12th on hfn music.
