Copenhagen’s WhoMadeWho return to Kompakt with a series of EPs, entitled Synchronicity”, to be released throughout 2020. This time the boys have brought some friends along for the ride. The EPs, which marks their first release for the label in eight years since 2012’s LP “Brighter”, finds the band collaborating with their favourite house and techno producers. In their own words: “We have always been very fortunate to meet and know many talented producers. In recent years, we have been exploring those relationships with different remixes and collaborations, and every time something exciting came out. That’s why we started our Synchronicity project. To challenge ourselves making inspiring, fun and beautiful music.”

The first EP features Adana Twins, Echonomist and Axel Boman and will be released in June. Our first taste from the release comes in the form of “Anywhere In The World”, a collaborative track the band made alongside Swedish producer and Studio Barnhus label co-founder Axel Boman. With “Anywhere In The World”, they create an eccentric house number that conjures ghosts of Talking Heads past mingling in a smokey club that would make Adrian Sherwood proud. Give it a spin above.

The “Synchronicity I” EP drops on June 12th via Kompakt. Pre-order it here.

Copenhagen-based producer Kasper Bjørke just dropped a strong remix package of his “Nothing Gold Can Stay” (Part A) EP, with a carefully selected and diverse list of producers. The EP features reworks by the likes of Tensnake (already featured here) Each Other, the project of New Yorkers Justin Strauss and Max Pask, Marcello Giordani, Bostro Pesopeo, and an ambient version of the title track by Kasper Bjørke himself. Here, we have for you a stellar seven-minute remix of “Du Du Du”, featuring Tomas Høffding of WhoMadeWho, by Italian maestro Marcello Giordani, one half of Marvin & Guy.

Speaking about Marcello Giordani’s remix, Kasper Bjørke says: “I had to have Marcello do a version of ‘Du Du Du’ which already has a very distinct 80ies feeling – but I knew that Marcello could enhance that vibe by his musical sense of classic Italian Disco – and I think he made the perfect version, with playful arpeggios and wonderful synth stabs complimenting the Danish vocals by Høffding in a really perfect way! The remix is a brilliant dance floor starter and I have already experienced it do its magic many times!”

The “Nothing Gold Can Stay” Remixes (Part A) is out now via hfn music. Get it here.

Danish trio WhoMadeWho, comprised of Tomas Høffding, Jeppe Kjellberg, and Tomas Barfod, are taking a trip right back to their roots with the release of a new EP called “Ember”, set to drop on May 18th via Get Physical. In the meantime, here’s the radio edit of the EPs title track for your listening pleasure. Just perfect!

“After many years of emphasizing ‘the song’ more and more, we felt like just playing around with our instruments, like when we recorded our first album (…) it was like renewing our band-wedding vows; we found our way back to our fun and free approach of making music together,” says Tomas Barfod.
