Sunday Drive #363

Sunday Drive #363

The ever-excellent Berlin-based label Habibi Funk is getting ready to drop its 16th release, the “Fine Anyway” LP, a sublime collection of songs by Lebanese singer-songwriter Rogér Fakhr. It’s one of our favourite releases on the label so far. Rogér Fakhr recorded these songs in the late 1970s in Beirut (and some during a brief exile in Paris). A few were circulated on hand copied cassettes among friends, others like “Had To Come Back Wet” were never released. His music effortlessly combines folk with touches of jazz and soul. He wrote, composed and arranged all songs. While working on his own music he also played for Ziad Rahbani, Fairouz and other musicians. Let’s take a Sunday drive with the record’s title track, a song of unique beauty.

The “Fine Anyway” LP will drop on April 9th via Habibi Funk. The vinyl version comes with an 8-page booklet and a DL code.
