Soulwax: “Empty Dancefloor”

“A love letter to the clubs and clubbers who are all suffering with us right now.”

“I can barely remember how it feels…”

Belgian electronic pioneers Soulwax just droppped a superb new track called “Empty Dancefloor” via their own label DEEWEE. “Empty Dancefloor” is a love letter to the clubs we all missed during these strange, uncertain times. With the hope that one day we will be able to fill these empty dancefloors with energy and good vibes. In their own words, “The desire for the return to the dance floor is so huge, we’re convinced it’ll bounce back with a vengeance, but in the meantime we’ve made this track. Originally created as a piece of music to score the AirPods Max product video, we have reworked it into this love letter to the clubs and clubbers who are all suffering with us right now.”

In related news, Soulwax’s fourth album “Nite Versions”, originally released in 2005 via PIAS, has been reissued for its 15th anniversary. It comes backed with Soulwax’s own rework of the ninth cut “NY Lipps”, featuring a spoken-word performance by LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang. The rework was originally made specially for Dries Van Noten Men’s Spring/Summer 2020 show in collaboration with the Belgian brand’s music creative director, Bache Jespers. A special re-pressing of the album on pink and white vinyl will follow shortly.

“Empty Dancefloor” is out now via DEEWEE. Get it here.
