Earlier this month, DFA stalwart Shit Robot, aka Dublin native Marcus Lambkin, dropped his great new single “End Of The Trail”, featuring Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor on vocals. Now, the track gets a trippy video, which was directed and animated by Kevin McGloughlin. As he says: “This video was created using a technique I developed which I have nicknamed ‘Digi-Cut’ after the technique from which it is derived ‘Strata-Cut’.”

“End Of The Trail” will appear on Shit Robot’s upcoming third album “What Follows”, the follow-up to 2014’s “We Got A Love” LP, set to drop on May 6th via DFA Records. The new record marks a departure in Lambkin’s process – a simple, but fundamental one: getting away from the computer. Pre-order it here.

YACHT, the Portland-via-Los-Angeles electro-pop duo of Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans, have shared this fine remix of their track “Ringtone” by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard. In his own words: “I love YACHT; I think their music and their live performances are mesmerising, and they are just plain good people. For this release, I wanted to make an old-fashioned Chicago banger as if the Eurythmics were remixed by DJ Pierre.” The track “Ringtone” appears on the pair’s new album “I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler”, out now via Downtown Records. Check out the Shynola-directed surreal video for Hot Chip’s new single “Need You Now”, which uses a sample from Sinnamon’s 1983 classic “I Need You Now”. The track will appear on the band’s forthcoming sixth album “Why Make Sense?”, their first since 2012’s “In Our Heads”. The video sees Alexis Taylor facing the aftermath of a breakup and battling with himself. “The idea for the video wholly came from our reaction to the song. What was intended to be a piece of thrifty filmmaking ended up being a mind-melting shoot – if you can imagine shooting multiple versions of reality, but completely out of chronology, plus in the pissing rain and wind,” say Shynola.

The album “Why Make Sense?” drops in May 18th via Domino. Pre-order it here.
