YUF​-​O (Yu Su & Francis Inferno Orchestra): “You Eff Ohh” EP

Yu Su and Francis Inferno Orchestra have teamed up for a new EP as YUF-O.

Say hello to YUF​-​O, a new collaborative project between Melbourne’s disco-house maverick Griffin James, aka Francis Inferno Orchestra and Kaifeng-born, Vancouver-based musician Yu Su. The pair’s surprise EP as YUF​-​O, a four-tracker called “You Eff Ohh”, just dropped on Superconscious Records, the label that FIO co-runs alongside close friend Fantastic Man.

In the blistering Los Angeles Summer of 2019, a chance encounter occurred between pals Yu Su and Francis Inferno Orchestra, whilst both dishevelled and on their own separate journeys to overcome immigration bureaucracy. In the midst of filling out forms and enduring long waiting periods (pre-pandemic) the pair managed to spend some time in the studio, two afternoons to be exact. The result; YUF-O.

“The record was written over two afternoons in LA in August 2019 while Yu Su was in town, and even though it was the first time writing music together, it felt like we had been working together for years. A true blessing, says Griffin James.

The “You Eff Ohh” EP is a four-tracker that comprise a charming and characteristic blend of both artists’ personalities, yet totally unexpected in the best possible way. A mixture of absurd house, blissful ambient, accidental trance and some totally weird and wonderful other stuff. Stream the whole thing below.
