Sunday Drive #319

“I wrote Tango Japan in a Japanese bar-restaurant… after three bottles of Saké”

Get a blast from the past with this special reissue of diggers’ favorite Al Onzo’s “Tango Japan”, a sleazy, dark and funky tale of a late night sake-fueled love affair, via Melbourne’s Mothball Record. Originally released in 1987, “Tango Japan” is a rare outing into dance music from the prolific Jean Pierre Alonzo. It comes backed with a bonus track the never before heard “Camel Soup in China Town”, recorded around the same time as “Tango Japan”. This Italo-influenced synth pop track has never sounded better.
