Sunday Drive #314

Habibi Funk, a German label dedicated to re-releasing a style of music that historically never existed as a musical genre, released its first ace compilation “An eclectic selection of music from the Arab world” all the way back in 2017. True to its title, the 16-track collection was compiled by Berlin-based reissue specialist Jannis Stürtz. This Sunday evening we revisit one of our favorite cuts off the compilation, “Ayonha” by Libyan-born, Egypt-based singer Hamid El Shaeri. Get ready for some ’80s Arabic funk goodness.
