KMBN: “World Without End (Facets Remix)”

New York’s Facets drops a captivating new remix for late-night rides.

It’s premiere time with a killer new remix from one of our favorite producers and DJs, the New York-by-the-way-of-London and Belgrade Facets, who’s also the founder of Samo Records. Facets has a knack for all things leftfield, electro, techno, acid, balearic and beyond and has been part of GlitterballNYC. For his first release of the year, he delivers a gloomy remix of “World Without End” by KMBN, aka Szymek Lawik, who’s also one half of the south London minimal synth/Italo project Ondata alongside Martin Lefteri.

Under his KMBN alias, Szymek Lawik steps out on his own with two original tracks “World Without End” and “HeXtreme Pursuit” riding shotgun and a trunk full of remixes. “World Without End” is one of the two tracks fusing classic Italo and Belgian new beat sensibilities with mournful melodic motifs. For the remainder of the release, Lawik asked some of his favorite producers for their interpretations of “World Without End”. The result is an embarrassment of riches.

On his remix, Facets strips back and casts clever shadows that take the original into unchartered territory and darker waters. Its gothic atmosphere is captivating. The “awkward” synth melodies are masterly laid along the track with an obscure repetitive bassline that gets stuck in your head while the narrative ethereal vocals offer an alluring touch to the track. Get your fill of Facets’ remix exclusively on LAGASTA.

The “World Without End / HeXtreme Pursuit” EP will drop on February 19th via Emerald & Doreen Records.
