Jaakko Eino Kalevi: “No End (Tom Noble’s Never-Ending Story Mix)”

Finnish psych dreamer and part-time tram driver Jaakko Eino Kalevi is a man of many talents. After releasing his sublime four-track “Dreamzone” EP last year, his debut release for Domino’s sub-label Weird World, the 29-year-old self-taught multi-instrumentalist and producer, who also runs his own label, JEKS, recently dropped a fine collection of remixes of songs from that record by some of his favorite producers. The “Dreamzone Remixes” features reworks from Berlin-based musician and visual artist Steven Warwick, aka Heatsick, LA neo-psych duo Peaking Lights, Finland synth act Vezurro, and last but not least Superior Elevation boss Tom Noble.

Our favorite remix from this package is the great “Never-Ending Story” mix of Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s “No End”, a gorgeously duet with fellow Helsinki singer Suad Khalifa, from New York disco maestro Tom Noble. Over nearly nine minutes, Noble applies his signature touch to “No End”, turning it into a magical space-disco ride.

The “Dreamzone Remixes” EP is out now on Weird World. Buy your copy here, and revisit the video for “No End”, which was shot in the highlands of Scotland by Harley Weir, below. Keep an eye out for Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s forthcoming EP, out soon on Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space Records.
