Fresh off the release of their fifth album “Summer 08”, Metronomy have shared the accompanying video to “Night Owl”, one of the record’s standout cuts. Filmed in the Palm Desert in Palm Springs, the surreal video was directed by French electronic musician and film director Quentin Dupieux, better known by his stage name Mr. Oizo. It follows the band’s mastermind Joseph Mount and his girlfriend, played by cult film director Zoe Cassavetes, on a bizarre road trip.

The album “Summer 08” is out now on Because Music. Get it here.

While their comeback single “Old Skool”, a funky, disco-infused groover, is still on repeat on our car stereo, Metronomy have shared another new track off their upcoming fifth album “Summer 08”. Here’s the record’s opening track “Back Together” reflecting on “the college years”. It sounds so damn good. Τhe “Summer 08″ LP, a sequel of sorts to the band’s 2008 breakthrough record “Nights Out”, will drop on July 1 on Because Music. Frontman Joe Mount says: “I wanted to make another record with the naivety of ‘Nights Out’: ten tracks, straight up, upbeat. Write another banger, then another, and don’t really think about it.”

Pre-order the album here.

Metronomy are back with their fifth album “Summer 08” and it’s the most fun thing they’ve done in a long time, according to frontman Joe Mount. Entirely written, played and produced by Mount himself, the ten-track record, a follow-up to 2014’s “Love Letters”, will be a sequel of sorts to the band’s 2008 breakthrough record “Nights Out”. It also features a duet with Swedish pop singer Robyn on “Hang Me Out To Dry”, mixed by Erol Alkan.

Check out the video for the brilliant first single “Old Skool”, a groovy, disco-infused appropriately titled jam featuring scratching from Beastie Boys turntablist Mix Master Mike. Inspired in part by Mike Leigh’s “Abigail’s Party”, the clip features Sharon Horgan from Catastrophe and Ben Crompton from Game of Thrones. Watch it above.

Directed by Dawn Shadforth.

The album “Summer 08” drops on July 1 on Because Music. Pre-order it here.
