Portland’s finest Chromatics just dropped the first single from their upcoming new album “Dear Tommy”. It’s called “Just Like You” and it’s yet another fine example of what makes Chromatics’ songs so special. The 17-track “Dear Tommy” LP, the follow-up to 2012′s “Kill For Love”, will arrive in March via Johnny Jewel’s Italians Do It Better imprint. The band will put out a new single every week until the album’s release. After working together on “Drive”, Italians Do It Better’s Johnny Jewel has scored Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut “Lost River”. The first taste from the upcoming soundtrack comes from Chromatics with a new track called “Yes” (Lost River), featuring vocals from Glass Candy’s Ida No, Desire’s Megan Louise, and Chromatics’ Ruth Radelet. It’s the first time the singers are all on the same song. Set for release on March 30th via Italians Do It Better, the soundtrack will also feature tracks by Glass Candy, Chromatics, and Desire, as well as two songs by Saoirse Ronan and Ben Mendelsohn. The “Yes” single, which includes the lullaby reprise and a remix by Symmetry, is out now. Buy it here

Italians Do It Better’s Johnny Jewel continues to offer for free download unreleased tracks from his extensive vaults, including this gritty and dirty 12″ version of Chromatics’ “Hands In The Dark”, originally appeared on the first “After Dark” compilation in 2007. “This is similar to the version we were playing on stage in Europe last year,” he says. It will also include the tracks “Cherry” and “Camera”, taken from last year’s “After Dark 2″ compilation.
