Metronomy: “Old Skool” Video

Directed by Dawn Shadforth.

Metronomy are back with their fifth album “Summer 08” and it’s the most fun thing they’ve done in a long time, according to frontman Joe Mount. Entirely written, played and produced by Mount himself, the ten-track record, a follow-up to 2014’s “Love Letters”, will be a sequel of sorts to the band’s 2008 breakthrough record “Nights Out”. It also features a duet with Swedish pop singer Robyn on “Hang Me Out To Dry”, mixed by Erol Alkan.

Check out the video for the brilliant first single “Old Skool”, a groovy, disco-infused appropriately titled jam featuring scratching from Beastie Boys turntablist Mix Master Mike. Inspired in part by Mike Leigh’s “Abigail’s Party”, the clip features Sharon Horgan from Catastrophe and Ben Crompton from Game of Thrones.

The album “Summer 08” drops on July 1 on Because Music. Pre-order it here.
