UK producer and musician Jon Hopkins has completed the latest installment of the long-running Late Night Tales compilation series. Set to drop on March 1, the mix features tracks from Four Tet, Bibio, Nils Frahm, Holy Other, HEALTH remixed by Gold Panda, School of Seven Bells, and more. As with all installments in the series, an exclusive cover is included as well: Jon Hopkins’ wonderful instrumental version of Yeasayer’s “Odd Blood” track “I Remember”, which you can now stream above.
“The original is a beautifully sad yet upbeat breakup song, strident and bright with synth lines cascading around a heartfelt vocal. I wanted to make it sound far more broken and fragile, so I re-played it on the piano, pitched it down, then mangled it quite heavily so it came out sort of wobbly and knackered sounding. I wanted to leave it quite bare, just letting that amazing melody lead the way,” he says.
