Cut Copy: “Free Your Mind”

Cut Copy: “Free Your Mind”

A few days ago, Cut Copy released a new single, called “Free Your Mind”, exclusively in six locations around the world: Mexico City, Chile, Western Australia, the UK, Detroit, and the California Desert. But in order to hear it, you had to be at one of the six billboards, which simply read “Free Your Mind”, with access to a smartphone or laptop.

Now, you don’t have to travel so far to listen the track. Here’s “Free Your Mind”, a great tune filled with bouncy bassline, soulful vocals, and acid house vibes that brings to mind Britain’s Second Summer of Love in the late ’80s. This is the first single from the band’s forthcoming fourth album of the same title, the long-awaited follow-up to 2011’s excellent “Zonoscope”. The record, which was produced by the band’s Dan Whitford, will be released on November 5 via Loma Vista/Modular.

Back in August, Cut Copy dropped a limited-edition 12″ single “Let Me Show You”. Apparently, only 120 copies were made available at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.
