Korallreven: “Here In Iowa”

August 20th, 2015

We’ve been following Swedish Balearic duo Korallreven for a long time, so it’s really sad to hear that Daniel Tjäder and Marcus Joons have decided to call it quits. Having released two albums, 2011’s “An Album By Korallreven” on Acéphale and 2014’s “Second Comin'” on Cascine, not to mention their quality remixes, Korallreven have just shared their farewell single “Here In Iowa”, offering us a bittersweet final ride. Arrivederci Korallreven.

“It has been a trippie trip, sort of a dream come true, sort of a dream become shattered. Kinda incredible how Korallreven, with this weird name in Swedish snowballed from bedroom recordings in Stockholm into a headlining US tour, festivals around Europe, amazing collaborations and all this love we have felt from all around. It’s been magic, but there is a time for everything and an end to everything too, also with Korallreven. So, enjoy this single, as you would the last drop of fresh water in the jungle. It sort of underlines exactly everything we wanted to do from the beginning but never yet achieved. Lifelovingness, big words and melancholy in three and a half minutes, for the last time.”

The single “Here In Iowa” will be released as a special one-sided, full colour 7″ flexi-disc on September 18th via Be Here Records. Pre-order it here.

Korallreven: “Limitless”

Korallreven: “Limitless” Video

April 21st, 2015

Swedish electronic pop duo Korallreven, aka Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder, have shared the André Jofré-directed video for their latest single “Limitless”, one of the standout tracks from their sophomore album “Second Comin’”, released last year via Cascine. Speaking about the video, André Jofré says: “It’s a dark story about having too much fun. The story also really depends on the viewer, something I really like. Aesthetically, we’ve essentially taken Drive and swapped out Gosling with Willy Wonka.”

Johan Agebjörn: “The Right To Play”

November 27th, 2014

Swedish electronic musician Johan Agebjörn, probably best known as the producer of Italo-Disco revivalists Sally Shapiro, has a new solo album on the way called “Notes”. Set for release on February 10th on Paper Bag Records, the 12-track record has been described as a “dreamy, melancholic and mostly instrumental collection of songs.” The starting point for “Notes” was the electric piano sound of the Casio MT52, a cheap keyboard from the early ’80s. Furthermore, the album is said to feature collaborations with Sally Shapiro, Young Galaxy, Loney Dear and Brain Machine.

Our first taste of Johan Agebjörn’s upcoming effort comes in the form of “The Right To Play”, a beauty of a track, which comes complete with a fine remix from Swedish synth-pop duo Korallreven. The “The Right To Play” single is out now digitally on Paper Bag Records. Give both tracks a spin above, and get your copy here.

Young Dreams: “Fog Of War”

October 11th, 2012

Following last year’s brilliant debut self-titled single Young Dreams, Norway’s symphonic pop ensemble Young Dreams, headed up by the mighty Matias Tellez, have just unveiled their new single “Fog Of War” and it’s absolutely beautiful – four minutes of dream pop perfection. “It’s about not seeing clearly what’s happening on the other side. It creates a need for help in a desperate situation – hence ‘Fog of War’ and the cry for help from Athena (Athene) who is the goddess of wisdom, courage and inspiration in Greek mythology”, says Mattias Tellez.
“Fog Of War” is the first official single to be taken from the band’s upcoming debut album, entitled “Between Places”, due out early next year via Modular. The single, backed with remixes by the likes of Lemonade, Korallreven, and Vampire Weekend’s bassist Baio, will be released on October 12th. You can now grab it for free below.

La.Ga.Sta.: Best of 2011

December 30th, 2011

Artwork: Yannis Dragasakis

La.Ga.Sta. offered its services to many weary travellers once more this year. By “following rivers” they drove “through the green” and found themselves in “English Riviera” only to come back again to our station for another refill.
Taking a Friday drive down this year’s memory lane, we think back on our numerous stops including among others:

Our after-hours, absolutely wicked dj set in the VIP room of Melt! Festival. We might have missed Cut Copy’s performance but we certainly had a blast. Shout out to T.E.E.D., Azari & III, Metronomy, Siriusmo, and Planningtorock for their stunning gigs.

The 15-track La.Ga.Sta. Summer Compilation 2011 with lots of exclusives released in August and downloaded by more than 15.000 vroomers in less than a month. Thank you guys!

The La.Ga.Sta mixtapes by the amazing Drop Out Orchestra, CFCF, Das Moth, Pharao Black Magic, Marius, and Mickey. Much appreciated.

Dancing ‘till we dropped with the Can You Relate? team at their super cool parties in Thessaloniki together with The Magician, Shit Robot, Villa, Moullinex, In Flagranti, Acid Washed, and Stopmakingme.

A huge thanks coming out to all of you who filled up our inbox with tons of tunes and mixes, wish we could post them all. Keep them coming.

It’s always such a great pleasure sharing sounds, words and feelings with all the people we love. We don’t really like making lists since we always forget to include everything we loved through the year. But, by popular demand, our pit stop crew tried to bring the Best of 2011 lists (albums, tracks, remixes, EP’s, video) based on what we played most on our car stereo. It was certainly an amazing year with great releases that gave this station the “gas” it needed to carry on driving. Check out our lists below in no particular order. We don’t have winners or losers in this race only drivers that finally make it to the finish line.

This is the 2011 sound of La.Ga.Sta. Vroooommm!
