Operating in a cloud of mystery, New York-based duo Pixelated have already wowed us with their quality disco-filled remixes for Poolside, Jim James and Sam Sparro. The last time we heard from them was last summer, when they dropped a sun-soaked, Nina Simone-sampling track called “Flying High” in collaboration with Los Angeles producer Falcon Punch. Now, Pixelated return to our station with this acid-tinged disco re-edit of Anita Baker’s 1986 classic “Caught Up In The Rapture”, and it’s a great one. This “Anita On Acid” rework will get some serious rotations this winter. Blast it above.

The edit of “Caught Up In The Rapture” is taken from the “Disco Meze” 12”, which also includes three delicious reworks by the likes of VinylAddicted & Jean Claude Gavri, Alkalino, and Silver Rider. The EP is out now on Sleazy McQueen’s label Whiskey Disco.

Let’s take a funky disco ride from Los Angeles down to São Paulo. Our good friends over at Chit Chat Records label return to our station with the first installment of their new “Brazilian Compilation Series”, a series of reworkings and edits of Brazilian funk and disco tracks curated by Fatnotronic, the São Paulo duo of Bonde Do Rolê’s DJ Gorky and Phillip A. (of Killer On The Dancefloor). The first volume includes four quality edits from Los Angeles-based “daytime disco” duo Poolside, aka Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise, Daniel.T (of Cosmic Kids fame), Tony Adams, and Fatnotronic themselves.

The record’s highlight is “Onda”, a sublime acid-tinged edit from Poolside in collaboration with Fatnotronic, which was already featured in La.Ga.Sta.’s Summer Compilation Vol. 4 and hit the top spot in our list of Top 50 Downloads of 2014. The original 1977 single by Brazilian soul legend Cassiano, has long been an in-demand item for Disco DJs.

The “Brazilian Compilation Series Vol.1″ will drop on vinyl on January 26th via Chit Chat Records. You can pre-order your 12” here. Don’t snooze on this one!

Also, you can grab a free download of Fatnotronic’s “Gold And Timber” here via Thump.

Our first “An Edit To Remember” of 2015 comes from Stockholm producer Kornél Kovács, aka Koko, a founding member of the ever-excellent Studio Barnhus label. A few months ago, he dropped three edits of tracks from the year he was born for the vinyl-only Puss label he co-runs with fellow Swedish producer HNNY. Our favorite cut from his excellent “1985 Edits” is “Ivan”, a superb groove-filled rework of a track from Spanish disco singer Ivan. Give “Ivan” a few spins above and stream the whole thing here.
