YACHT: “L.A. Plays Itself” Video

Earlier this week, Portland’s electro-pop duo YACHT, who now calls Los Angeles home, dropped their addictive new single “L.A. Plays Itself”, a whole new kind of traffic jam. The song’s accompanying video was directly controlled by traffic in LA. It was only viewable for a limited time when Uber surge pricing was on in the city. You can now watch it from anywhere in the world. Directed by YACHT and David Lawrence, the clip for “L.A. Plays Itself” is an IRL lyric video, using 163 location signs—ubiquitous in Los Angeles—to display the song’s lyrics all over the city. Enjoy the ride.

The track, which was inspired by Thom Andersen’s 2003 documentary “Los Angeles Plays Itself”, is taken from the pair’s forthcoming new album “I Thought the Future Would Be Cooler”, which drops on October 16 via Downtown Records. Pre-order it here.
