Slow Hands: “Everything (We Are)” EP

Hailing from New York City’s underground house scene, Ryan Cavanagh, aka Slow Hands, is someone we’ve been following for a long, long time. This incredibly talented producer, DJ and live musician never ceases to amaze us with his solid disco-tinged house jams of low-slung rhythms and deep, sultry vibes, rich in melody and emotion. He always just makes music that gets you thinking and feeling as much as dancing, and also does so alongside friend John Paul Jones, aka Tom Croose, as Worst Friends and Greek-raised, New York-based producer Niko Dalagelis, aka One Of Them, as Male Madame. “I want my music to be made for all places, and atmospheres,” he says.

After a long wait and months of building anticipation, Slow Hands has finally dropped his first proper EP “Everything (We Are)” that gives us plenty of reasons to get excited about his upcoming debut album “I’ll Find Me”, which is expected sometime later this year via Wolf + Lamb. The four-track EP, consisting of three originals and a remix of the title track by Brooklyn-based producer and frequent collaborator Dave Robertson, aka Cameo Culture, is a great example of Slow Hands at his best. It’s not surprising that this freshly released EP has arrived in summertime; acoustic guitars, slinky grooves, hazy melodies, and balmy atmospheres make these tracks tailor-made for endless warm evenings and sunbaked road trips. And yes, it’s a ride not to be missed.

The “Everything (We Are)” EP is out now on vinyl on Wolf + Lamb Records, while the digital version will come out on September 15th. Pick up your 12” here. Below, you can watch a teaser video for Slow Hands’ long-awaited debut LP “I’ll Find Me”.

Let’s take a ride down to Rockaway Beach with “Remo”, a perfectly crafted downtempo tune from trumpet player, vocalist, and producer Greg Paulus, one half of No Regular Play, in collaboration with fellow Brooklyn-based producer and musician John Camp. As we read: “Remo was distinctly reminiscent of their times spent on Rockaway Beach: The trips out in the car or bus, drinking and smoking on the shore and slowly making their way back into the Brooklyn night to get crazy.”

“Remo” is taken from Greg Paulus’ new four-track EP “Scenes From Our Classic Future”, out now via Wolf + Lamb Records. The release also features two collaborative tracks with Brian Derdiarian and a radio edit of “Remo” by Tanner Ross.

San-Francisco trio PillowTalk of all thing deep, funky and soulful, have graced our pages over the past three years. After dropping a series of solid EPs on a number of labels, including Visionquest, Life And Death, and Wolf + Lamb, PillowTalk, comprised of Sammy D, Michael Tello and Ryan Williams, finally release their debut album called “Je Ne Sais Quoi” (that’s the amazing artwork above). Described as “a soundtrack to long nights, lazy days and the hazy space between sleeping and waking”, the 13-track record was unquestionably worth the wait.

“Je Ne Sais Quoi” is an eclectic album with large elements of soul, boogie, classic R&B, and house that takes the listener on a magic ride. It’s quite hard to pick a favorite track. Here, we have “Homesick”, one of the record’s standout tracks, which finds PillowTalk teaming up with New York house duo Thugfucker for a deep, emotive slow jam driven by Sammy D’s sultry vocals.

PillowTalk’s debut LP “Je Ne Sais Quoi”, which also included the singles “Lullaby” and “We All Have Rhythm” (already posted here) is out now via Wolf + Lamb.

HAKT Recordings, a new record label run by New York-based DJ and former DFA label manager Justin Miller, continues to roll out a steady stream of quality music that walks the line between electronic, deep house, and disco.

After dropping three well- received EPs from Walter Jones, John Camp, and Cale Parks over the last few months, the label’s new release comes from Brooklyn duo No Regular Play, aka Nicholas DeBruyn and Greg Paulus, two childhood friends from Minnesota who became core members of the Wolf + Lamb family in 2006.

Entitled “Nothing Less”, the EP brings together four original tracks, their first new material since last year’s debut LP “Endangered Species” on Wolf + Lamb. Before the “Nothing Less” EP drops on August 26th, you can now stream the title track, a sultry, late-night jam with Paulus’ inimitable trumpet and cosmic synths. Nothing less than brilliant.
