New York-via-Detroit producer and Ghostly International/Spectral Sound co-founder Matthew Dear starts off 2017 with the first DJ-Kicks mix of the year. The 25-track mix features Pearson Sound, Matrixxmann, ItaloJohnson and Simian Mobile Disco, as well as a handful of new tunes under his Audion alias. “A mix like this is always a good place to showcase my own productions, but I didn’t want to oversaturate it with my own stuff.”

The mix also includes a new original track from Matthew Dear himself in the form of “Wrong With Us”, a “reflection on the state of the world we live in today”, which was recorded with his friends Simian Mobile Disco. As he says: “‘Wrong With Us’ came about in a frenzied session with Simian Mobile Disco at their studio in the English countryside. We started with some modular synths and went from there adding vocals, drums and other odd ends. In the end, we finished four songs in four days, and I couldn’t have been happier with the results.”

Matthew Dear Dear’s DJ-Kicks mix arrives on January 27 via !K7. Pre-order it here.

Bristol’s very own house producer Dan Pearce, aka Eats Everything, just dropped a new video for his track “Dancing (Again!)”, a banger of a tune featuring Tiga and Matthew Dear under his Audion guise. It’s a pretty hilarious video that follows Eats Everything’s super fans Brenda and Gwyn relieving their boredom whilst fighting through their night shift at the local cash ‘n’ carry, recreating scenes from some well know films to pass the time.

“Dancing (Again!)”, the third release on Discolsure’s Method White, is out now. Buy it here.

Ghostly mainstay Matthew Dear returns to his increasingly active Audion guise with a great new single “Dem Howl” for Cologne’s legendary Kompakt label. Featuring vocals from Danish singer and musician Troels Abrahamsen, who you may remember from Kölsch’s “All That Matters”, the seven-minute track “Dem Howl” is quite a different affair, less deep and dark from Audion’s previous productions, but one that rewards repeat listens.

The “Dem Howl” single, which comes complete with an instrumental version of the track as well as a remix from label co-founder Michael Mayer, will drop on November 3 via Kompakt. Pre-order your 12” here.
