Here’s a great 13-minute documentary about 12 years of DFA Records, entitled “Too Old To Be New, Too New To Be Classic”, courtesy of Red Bull Music Academy.

Narrated by Marc Maron, it features music and interviews from DFA founders James Murphy and Jonathan Galkin, LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Holy Ghost!, The Juan MacLean, Shit Robot, YACHT and many more. Definitely worth a watch.

Back in November, we featured New Build’s debut 12” single “Misery Loves Company”, and here’s the b-side “Guitar Man” for your listening pleasure, a gorgeous slow jam which features Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem on drums. The London-based trio of Al Doyle (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem) Felix Martin (Hot Chip) and studio engineer Tom Hopkins with special guest appearances from Planningtorock, will release their first full-length album later this year on their own Lanark Recordings imprint.

We already featured “Finding Reasons”, the first taste from New Build, a new London-based band, which featuring Al Doyle (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem) Felix Martin (Hot Chip) and studio engineer Tom Hopkins. Now the band is ready to drop their debut 12” single, “Misery Loves Company”, on November 28th via their own Lanark Recordings. The 3-track release will also include the fantastic b-side “Guitar Man” and a remix of “Finding Reasons” by Planningtorock. A full album will be out early next year so keep your eyes peeled. LCD Soundsystem – Live Alone (Franz Ferdinand cover)

Take a listen to LCD Soundsystem’s cover of Franz Ferdinand’s jam “Live Alone”. In 2007, Franz Ferdinand covered “All My Friends” as an exclusive b-side for the single’s release. The track is taken from Franz Ferdinand’s “Covers EP”, out on April 16th for Record Store Day. The EP also features Deborah Harry, Peaches, and The Magnetic Fields’ Stephin Merritt covering selections from the band’s 2009 album “Tonight”.
