Since we first heard The Aikiu’s debut single we… just can’t sleep. Yes, Alex Aikiu is our favourite new artist. Nile Rodgers once called him ‘Madonna with a dick…and with Simon Le Bon’s voice…’. Legendary photographer Jean-Paul Goude has been working with him for the last 3 years and his music is influenced by Roxy Music, David Bowie…and a hint of Chic. The Aikiu was born in Paris when Alex teamed up with his friends Julien Vichnievsky and Cedric Pilooski! Finally, his amazing debut single ‘Just Can’t Sleep’ will be released on June 14th via Abracada (the label’s 3rd release). The song is about Alex’s love for late-’70s/early-’80s New York: “A time when the city was in a terrible mess, but at the same alive with an air of decadent glamour and freedom. It’s about the freedom of dancing”, he says. Definitely one to watch!

After more than 3 years together, Canadian duo Thunderheist (Grahm Zilla and MC Isis) have broken up. Now Thunderheist bring you the track ,’Drive-In’, their only official release of 2010 for Bacardi B-Live Series. It features a brand new remix by Drop The Lime. Isis told Spinner: “This song used to be a very sad song. And now it’s a very happy song. It’s a happy breakup song!”
