It’s time for a remix swap between Cologne-based electronic-pop duo COMA and Vampire Weekend’s bassist Baio. Once again, Baio delivers a superb remix of COMA’s “The Sea”, a standout cut from last year’s second LP “This Side Of Paradise”, turning the original track into an epic dancefloor bloomer. Kompakt affiliates COMA return the favour, bringing their own take to Baio’s “Endless Rhythm”, a great tune off his debut album “The Names”, released back in August via Glassnote. You can download both remixes for free below.

Vampire Weekend’s bassist Baio has shared this cool new video for his superb single “The Names”, the title track off his debut solo album. Shot in London, the video was directed by Baio himself. In his own words: “On New Years Day, while I was nursing my hangover, I watched David Bowie’s Serious Moonlight tour film. In the performance of “Cracked Actor” he holds a skull that starts singing along. I had already finished editing this video but was really thrilled by the coincidence. In a roundabout way “The Names” is my tribute to David Bowie, my favorite artist of all time.”

San Francisco’s graphic artist and ambient electronic producer Scott Hansen, aka Tycho, will drop “Awake Remixes”, a fine collection of remixes of tracks from last year’s fourth album “Awake”. Today, we’ve got our hands on a quality remix of “Plains” by Vampire Weekend’s bassist Baio. On his rework, Baio gives “Plains” a kind of soulfulness, adding a driving rhythm to the original’s beatless ambience and dropping in snatches of vocal for texture and warmth. Just perfect!

The “Awake Remixes”, which also features remixes by the likes of Com Truise, Christopher Willits, Bibio and Beacon, which had been previously released, will arrive digitally January 15th and on vinyl May 20th via Ghostly International. Pre-order it here.

It’s been quite some time since Sebastiaan Vandevoorde dropped something new under his Moonlight Matters alias, but that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t been busy. As one half of house duo Arches alongside Sound of Stereos’ Jochen Sablon, the Belgian producer recently made big waves with some serious dancefloor heaters for labels such as The Magician’s Potion imprint. Now, Moonlight Matters returns to our ears with a finely crafted new remix of Vampire Weekend’s Baio “I Was Born In A Marathon”. The track is lifted from his recently released debut solo album “The Names” that has been on repeat on our car stereo for a while now. We’re glad to have him back in such fine form. Enjoy the ride.

Vampire Weekend’s bassist Chris Baio is dancing around London in his fun new video for his throwback pop gem “Sister Of Pearl”, the first single his upcoming debut solo album “The Names” as Baio. As he says: “I’ve always loved dancing-some of my earliest life memories involve dancing around my family’s dining room table to ‘Thriller’ when I was little. For me, it’s never been about being good, or looking cool…it’s about having fun.”

Back in May, Vampire Weekend’s bassist Chris Baio dropped an insanely good tune called “Brainwash Yyrr Face”, the first taste from his forthcoming debut solo album “The Names” under his Baio moniker. Now, he’s back with his summery new single “Sister Of Pearl”, a throwback pop gem ideal for your next car rides. This is quite a departure from his usual fare of tropical-flavored house music, but it still sounds great. Give it a spin or two above.

Exciting news! Baio, the solo project of Vampire Weekend’s bassist Chris Baio, will drop his highly anticipated full-length debut album, entitled “The Names”, on September 18th via Glassnote Records. The nine-track album, which follows his solid EPs “Sunburn” (Greco-Roman), “Mira” (Future Classic) and “On&On&On&On”/”Missive” (Club Mod), is said to contain “Bowie and Ferry-influenced pop songs and dumbsmart arena techno.” The record takes its title from Don DeLillo’s 1982 novel of the same name.

Now, we’re treated to a stream of the album’s opening track “Brainwash Yyrr Face” and it’s a great one. It also features Baio’s own vocals. Give the track a spin above, and keep your eyes peeled for the record’s first single called “Sister Of Pearl”, which will drop next month.
