Sinkane x Peaking Lights: “Mean Dub” EP

Get ready for a heavy dose of spaced-out dub reworks. Brooklyn-based Sudanese musician Ahmed Gallab, aka Sinkane, has teamed up with L.A.-via-Wisconsin husband-and-wife duo Peaking Lights for a new EP called “Mean Dub”. The release finds Peaking Lights’ Aaron Coyes delivering four dub versions of Sinkane’s standout tracks from last year’s much-loved soulful, groovy second album “Mean Love”. You can stream the whole thing above. Great stuff!

“Dub is the epitome of music to me. It’s the concept of re-defining, re-appropriating, and re-interpreting an idea. Putting a different spin on something that already exists. It’s collaboration and renovation. I’ve always wanted someone to make dubs of Sinkane songs and these Peaking Lights joints have come out really beautifully and have shed an amazing new light and energy on our music,” says Sinkane’s Ahmed Gallab.

The “Mean Dub” EP will drop on August 21 via DFA/City Slang. Pre-order it here
