Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard releases his debut solo album “Harvest Festival” on Greco-Roman, the label he co-founded with Alexander ‘Full Nelson’ Waldron. A largely instrumental, electronic album, it winds from woozy ambience to the polyrhythms of London’s clubland and back again, and has a strange fixation with fruit. Highlights include the opener “Apple Bobbing”, the melancholy vocal track “Lemon & Lime (Home Time)” and the sinisterly beautiful “Sour Grapes”.“I wanted to do things that would feel a little out of place on a Hot Chip album, like having long instrumental passages and loops”, he explains.
