Jay Haze & Signor Andreoni: “Take A Dip”

The next release on Soul Clap Records comes from Philadelphia-born, Berlin-based producer, multi-instrumentalist and activist Jay Haze with his new three-track EP called “The Mulatar House”, which follows his recent collaborative album with Canadian Elan Benaroch, aka ESB, “Finding Oriya” on Leftroom. The record finds Jay Haze working with friends, Signor Andreoni and Jordy Lockruf, and introduces a new handmade instrument to the world called Mulatar.

Jay Haze says about Mulatar, “We have taken this record as an opportunity to showcase the Mulatar, this beautiful all wood instrument, which consists of a bass, harp and percussions on the back and sides. The sound of this instrument is soo distinct because of the way it slides. It is a slide instrument, with wax contact to wood. At this point there have been 16 of them made by hand, and the sound of this beautiful instrument continues to mesmerize every time we play her.”

The record’s standout track is “Take A Dip”, which was recorded with Italian producer Signor Andreoni on the beach in Sardinia. It’s a killer groovy tune with some serious guitar riffs and gentle piano solos. Give it a few spins below, and ride with us.

Jay Haze & Friends’ “The Mulatar House” EP will arrive digitally on December 1 via Soul Clap Records. Preview the whole thing here.
