Cosmic tunes for the party tonight

One of our favourite tracks last year was Acid Washed’s night-riding funk “General Motors, Detroit, America”. After releasing their first EP, Acid Washed, the Parisian mysterious duo, are about to release their debut album, entitled simply “Acid Washed”, out on March 19th on Record Makers. Collaboration is the key to Acid Washed: holding a list of musicians with labels and artists such as Gavin Russom (aka Black Meteoric Star), Christian Kreuz (Get Physical), Arnaud Rebotini of Blackstrobe, Turzi (Record Makers), Barbara Panther, and Christophe Chassol (Sébastien Tellier, Phoenix) waiting in line. The result is a fusion of late nineties filter house and DFA disco anthems that acknowledges the influence of Chicago and Detroit without being overly reverential. Listen to the track “The Rain”, a cover of the Oran “Juice” Jones soul classic, featuring Christian Kreuz on vocals.

Here’s Sigur Rós frontman new video for ‘Go Do’, the first single to be taken from his forthcoming solo album, ‘Go’ (out on April 5th). The video was filmed on location in Iceland between Christmas and New Year, which is quite an achievement when you realise there are about four hours of daylight at that time of year. Directed by Arni & Kinski.

The C90s, what a gem! The London-based dance duo (Jamie Paterson & Danny Ashenden) have been working hard, providing remixes for the likes of Cut Copy, Headman, Tronik Youth and most recently Roisin Murphy and Flight Facilities “Crave You” (it’s coming soon). Now, The C90s will release their debut single ‘10:01′, out on March 5th on Swiss label, Relish Recordings featuring a new vocal version and remix by VillA, followed by an assortment of new material. Here’s the instrumental version of ‘10:01′ (featured on the Relish Compilation ll).Sounds amazzzzing!

Both are fans of old Italo Disco’s spectral sounds but also fans of Pink Floyd, The Human League, The Beach Boys and a lot of current nu-disco shit. DJing under the name of as Cosy Mozzy, being art directors of Brussels’ club Dirty Dancing and creating a fame for mixing up classix house, disco and boogie in a very special way. Now, Mustang boys are the new kids on the Gomma board and will release their debut EP “Chameleon Circus” on February 5th.
The buzz is already starting. And their future looks bright!
