After a long wait, Panama return with a new EP called “Hope For Something”, a five-tracker brought to life by Perth-born singer-songwriter Jarrah McCleary’s confessional storytelling. His richest and most moving work yet, the EP’s subject matter spans personal turmoil, making peace with your past and the loss of a loved one, but ultimately emerges optimistic. Our first taste from the upcoming record is the superb title track “Hope For Something”, a song McCleary wrote about his personal demons. “It’s about a battle with yourself,” he says.

The “Hope For Something” EP, which marks Panama’s first release of original material since 2015’s single “Jungle”, arrives on June 23 on Future Classic. Pre-order it here.

Talamanca System, the trio of International Feel boss Mark Barrott, German producer Phillip Lauer and Running Back boss Gerd Janson, also known as Tuff City Kids, are gearing up to release their self-titled debut album in May. The record’s nine tracks ranging from up to downtempo, piano house smashers that would have deserved the prefix Italo-, percussion rituals captured by a group of Zoo animals on the loose, soundtracks for dusk and dawn, hushed vocals, rites of ambient passages, powerful synth ballads and vamp choirs. If this album were a car, it would be a Citroen 2CV remade by Tesla. Our first taste of the forthcoming album comes in the form of “Transatlantique”, a great, piano-led house tune.

The “Talamanca System” LP drops on May 19 via International Feel. Pre-order it here.

The new, 13-track record is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their Hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in San Francisco’s Room G Studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 second LP “See You When You Get There”. Hamburg-based, Baltimore-raised singer Sophia Kennedy is gearing up to release her self-titled debut album on DJ Koze and Marcus Fink’s Pampa Records. The record, which marks the label’s first “songwriting record”, reveals her as a dramatic romanti-cist and distanced diseuse, as a deft lyricist and master of melody. It was produced by Sophia Kennedy and Mense Reents (who is known as being a member of Die Vögel, Egoexpress, Die Goldenen Zitronen). “I want to take tradition to the limits, to where it becomes extreme,” Kennedy says. “You just can’t be afraid that it turns out to be pop music.” Today, we’re treated to a stream of the album’s first single “Build Me A House”, a stellar track full of smoldering piano melodies.

Sophia Kennedy’s self-titled debut album drops on April 28th via Pampa Records.
