Last month, Toronto jazz outfit BADBADNOTGOOD dropped the Samuel Herring-featuring silky smooth tune “Time Moves Slow”, the lead single off their forthcoming fifth album “IV”. Now, they’re back with another new track called “Lavender”, which finds the three-piece-turned-quartet teaming up once again with fellow Canadian beatmaker Kaytranada. Speaking about the collaboration, BADBADNOTGOOD said, “We made Lavender amongst many other songs and samples with Kaytranada in our home studio ‘Studio 69’. It’s an incredible honor to call Kay a close friend of ours; he is a talent like no other.”

Berlin-based South African producer Alan Abrahams, aka Portable, will drop his first album for !K7 Records this August. Taking the producer’s given name for its title, the 11-track record is said to be his “most complete and personal statement yet.” Today, we’re treated to a stream of the record’s first single “Say It’s Going To Change” that offers a supple dose of house optimism. French producer/DJ and Tigersushi head honcho Joakim pays tribute to the magical island of Boipeba in Brazil and the wonderful people of Mareh with a killer new 10-inch called “Boipeba”. As he says: “Two years ago I was invited to play for new year’s eve in Brazil for Mareh Festival on the island of Boipeba. This little piece of paradise, the people on the island and the magical sunrise set I was honored to perform inspired me to do a track as soon as I got back in the studio. Swedish producer and Studio Barnhus label co-founder Axel Boman has returned in fine form with his great three-track EP called “Moon Dancer”, which marks the debut release from Third Try Records, a newly-founded label based in Paris. Named after an area of Stockholm connecting Lake Mälaren to the Baltic Sea, the fittingly titled “Sunrise Over Slussen” finds Axel Boman delivering a beauty of a tune with an old-timey piano riff, playful melodies, and a definite vintage feel. Berlin-based disco duo Private Agenda have managed to make a name for themselves with their two stellar EPs, “Déjà Vu” and “Paralysed” of breezy, mid ’80s Balearic pop goodness, released last year on Mark Barrott’s International Feel label. Having recently launched their own imprint Nightshift, the rising duo of Martin and Sean continues to evolve and impress. The label’s first release comes from Private Agenda themselves with a new EP called “Full Moon” that channels those iconic vocal-led disco 12″s. Just in time for the summer season.
