Meet Lance Gurisik, a 21-year-old talented producer from Sydney, Australia, who goes by the name of Lancelot. Recently signed to Binary Records, Lancelot is ready to drop his debut EP “We Can Dance” on February 20th, with three groovy dance tracks and remixes by Goldroom, Fabian, Frames and Moonchild. Lots of feel good summer vibes. You may already heard Goldroom’s remix of the title track in The Magician’s latest magic tape. Today, Lancelot pulled over at La.Ga.Sta. for a little chat ahead of his Binary debut. What made you decide to turn to music in the first place?
I have always enjoyed music since I was a little kid however, I never seriously pursued it until I was about 16, when one of my close friends taught me how to play Dammit (Blink 182) on guitar. Something happened to me that day that has stuck with me ever since. My ambitions to become a professional baseball player at a sports high school faded away quickly, as my new interests were in learning every single guitar tab that ever existed! Things have turned 360 degrees since my humble adolescent beginnings – I just finished my Honours Degree in a Bachelor of Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, I’m writing music for films, producing and performing all my own music and music of others as well. The best part is, I still feel like the kid playing the opening riff to Dammit when I was 16. I will never let music feel like work to me.

What has influenced you the most?
The music that has influenced me spans from the very beginning stages of electronic music, when Pierre Schaeffer and Karlheinz Stockhausen were first experimenting with music concréte and electronic music and pioneering techniques that producers use till this day, up until the present with living prophets of electronic music like The Chemical Brothers.

What are your plans for 2012?
Tour this EP – Finish and release my 2nd EP – Go to L.A. to meet my label guys over at Binary – Produce more music for others – Get a Lancelot live show underway – Do a nude run on the set of Young Talent Time because its a JOKE – Learn Italian so I can actually have a conversation with my Nonna – Enter the next Amazing Race show with my mum.

Meet Thomas Azier, a new electro-pop artist, based in Berlin. The 24-year old multi-instrumentalist just dropped his four-track debut EP “Hylas 001″ on his own label Hylas Records, and here’s “Metropolitan Tribe”, one of the EP’s standout tracks, for your downloading pleasure. He says: “Music has turned into nothing more then just a rush in the background while you are busy doing other things. We first heard his tracks a few months ago and now rising Australia’s DJ/producer Alexander Holland finally dropped his debut EP on Los Angeles-based label Disca Bueno. The release contains two tracks “The Best Of Me” and “City Full Of Lights” full of great vibes. Now based in London the Australian producer is currently working on future projects. A nice surprise from Moscow. Pompeya, an indie pop quartet made up of the members Daniil Brod, Sasha Lipsky, Nairi Simonian and Denis Agafonov, recently released their debut album “Tropical” and sounds fantastic. The album is full of gems. It’s hard to believe this band is unsigned and released “Tropical” on their own. Check out the tracks “90″ and “Power” and buy here.

Meet The Touch: Hailing from the city of Gothenburg in Sweden, Lina, Andreas, Olov and Johan have now made a comeback with a new touch. We first came across with producer Rimeroni Vumani from Amsterdam when he formed the electro-pop band Le Le together with graphic designer/producer Parra and rapper/singer Faberyayo. Their album “Le Classics”, released on Gomma back in April 2010, was a huge success. Since then, he continues exploring electronic sounds under the name of Rimer London. After his 2010 single “Squaring The Triangle”, Rimer London recently dropped his debut self-titled album on Magnetron. This ridiculously good record has been on repeat in our car stereo the last weeks. Get involved.

Meet YesYou: Two producers from Brisbane, Australia who began writing in early 2010. Armed with a handful of tracks they are now collaborating with a range of different artists to put together an eclectic dance/pop record. Here’s their first catchy single, “Half Of It”, features James O’Brien (The Boat People) and the St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School Choir. Expect a new remix from fellow Brisbane band Mitzi.
