Formation: “All The Rest Is Noise”

Say hello to Formation, a young brotherly duo from South London who make warm, soulful, electronic pop heavily influenced by Philly Disco and Northern Soul. The duo recently dropped their brilliant debut “White Label” EP, recorded in their mum’s home, a four-track offering that brings to mind early DFA releases. Our favorite track from that release is “All The Rest Is Noise”, a playful, summery jam full of cowbells, bright melodies and mellow keys that’s perfect for your next car ride.

Formation’s “White Label” EP, a vinyl-only 12” release limited to 300 hand-stamped copies, is now available for purchase here. You can stream the whole thing here. Expect to hear more from this pair in the near future.

The record’s a-side, “Still Amateur”, a fine piece of playful house with a simple-but-effective vocal sample, has been on repeat on our car stereo for a while now, and it’s definitely a good thing for your ears. Despite what his name may imply, Amateur Dance deserves your full attention. Can’t wait to hear more from this guy.
